Are you particular about gift wrapping?

Do you take a lot of pangs with wrapping gifts? Do you like to color coordinate your packages that you wrap or pretty them up? Or do you even wrap them? I like to make my gifts look very attractive with a lot of ribbons and frilly things. Are you creative when it comes to gift wrapping or do you just slap the paper on and go?

i love wrapping, and try to coordinate the paper so all the presents under the tree look "right" lol! course i arrange and re-arrange them a number of times until they look right. i dont like having packages with the same wrapping paper sitting next to each other, nor do i like it when at least half of the package cannot be seen. i do like ribbons and the little curly cue ribbons. i have to buy them pre-made though, i havent a clue how to make them myself. im also a fiend with tape. i cant stand having a bit of wrapping paper edge that looks like it just might catch on something and get ripped open. so usually every bit of paper fold/edge is very well taped lol!

I like the tape too. It makes people have to work harder to get it open too! LOL Thanks for responding

Not at all. My gift wrapping skills are awful. And I mean awful! So whenever I give a gift, the person pretty much knows who it comes from. But that has become part of the fun. I do use gift bags when I can. I think frilly things would make my packages look even worse!

My wife and daughter went shopping on Black Friday. The gifts they bouight were wrapped by my 9 year old grandson. A sloppy job to say the least, yet very cute and appreciated. I loved seeing them when I started setting them under the tree this past weekend. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

LOL That's funny. I have a friend that is very good at it and I asked her once how she learned to wrap so well and she told me she took a class. I found that so funny that someone would actually take a class but I guess it worked for her!

since i wrapped gifts at a store i worked at when i was in high school, i learned a few little tricks to making packages look nice without a lot of fuss. i do like to buy wrapping paper with a them, this year it's red with snowflakes and red with snowmen, last year it was red and white stripped. when wrapping gifts it always reminds me of when i was younger, we would drive 9 hours to spend christmas with family, and we always stayed at my grandparents house. my grandmother wouldn't have one gift wrapped, even though she had all the shopping done and all the paper, she would wait and me and my sister would wrap all the gifts for her.

I like the idea of going with a "theme" type of wrapping. I've not tackled that on yet. I like to have a little variety but not over doing it. Thanks for responding!

I don't exactly slap it on, but I do not take a lot of time picking out pretty ribbons and bows and all that. I have been doing one wrapping paper for each kid and one paper for everyone else.

My mom always hated to wrap too. I remember she used to put everything in boxes and ask me to wrap them for her. I even got to wrap my own! She made sure to tape the boxes shut so I could not peek at least.

When my kids got old enough to start recognizing the hand writing I did a particular paper for each. My mom hates to wrap. If I didn't take a day and go wrap for her she wouldn't wrap period! LOL She has been known to put everything in laundry baskets and just pass it out! LOL

Nope :D I wrap gifts only to conceal the content. And besides, I already spent a lot on the gift itself, I'm not spending more on the wrapper. So I pretty much like it a lot when the shop offers to wrap the gift for free...or for a really cheap price :D I also don't mind if I receive poorly wrapped gifts, as long as they're wrapped! I like tearing out the wrapper, it makes me feel like it's my birthday. Thanks for commenting in my discussion!

Cool! The only bad thing about free or cheap gift wrapping here in our place is the REALLY LONG line hahaha

You're welcome! I was at the mall the other day and there was a church there that was wrapping for donations. My friend was with me and she took all of her items there and had them wrapped for $5.00. Now there's a bargain! LOL They did a good job too. They provided all the gift boxes and wrapping. I was amazed! LOL

I used to spend almost as much time wrapping things as it took me to buy them. Fancy paper, lace, ribbons, bows, doodads....you name it. They all found their way onto my packages. To be shredded without heed in about 5 seconds flat. Slowly I've digressed to the point where stuff is wrapped in tissue (no tape, so we can reuse the tissue)and put into Christmas bags. Where I used to lock myself in a room for a couple of days making everything pretty, now I'm done in about an hour.

I love to use the shredded and sparkling fillers for the gift bags. It is a lot easier and they can be dressed up quite nicely! Thanks for responding!

LOL Well here is another idea for you. This is kind of cute for men's packages. Take a solid black gift bag ( I like the shiny ones but it doesn't matter) and run your old newspaper thorugh the shredder and fill it with it! Looks pretty good!

I love you! You just gave me a terrific idea! One of our local value stores has some very inexpensive gift wrap that is very colorful, but UGLY! I'm going to go get some to run through the paper shredder. I can make my own shredded filler! Thankyou thankyou!

Trouble is when they are so nicely wrapped up, covered in bows and ribbons and look attractive you just don't want to open them! They look far too good to open! It's a shame don't you think that someone's hard work and pride is torn apart in a matter of seconds! To be honest I am not that particular in wrapping presents, I wrap the presents well and they are neatly done but I am not too fussed on colour coordination etc, considering the paper won't stay on for long.

I have been told by family and friends I should wrap gifts as a carreer. I tend to take my time making sure the end flaps are nice and squared off evenly. I like to make sure there are no wrinkles etc in the wrappinmg. I take my time with each and every gift I wrap. OI color corndinate ever so often with ribbons and bows as well. I prefer my gifts to look semi professionally wrapped I guess. I am not perfect but I do my best each and every time. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

i hate wrapping presents because i just can never get the corners just right or cut the paper straight! i do, however, make my own tags, and most people just look at the tags and not the horrible wrapping job! lol

I'm good at gift wrapping, but I hate doing it. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, I worked as a customer service manager in a large department store. I had to train customer service personnel to wrap the "correct" way, so I know the best ways to wrap. And I will use what I learned if I'm wrapping a wedding gift. But for Christmas and birthdays, most people tear off the paper so quickly that they don't even notice how the package was wrapped. So...I use lots of gift bags.

I think of gift wrapping like making my bed in the morning. "what's the point?!" haha I mean the person is just going to rip it up and we just lay in our beds and mess them up again! This doesn't mean that I don't try to make the gifts look nice. They aren't perfect, but they are presentable. - vanonas www.thelendingstory.com
