I have a friend who is about to enroll for an online masters degree. Because of hectic schedule, he asked me to handle one of his subject. Handling his subject means making his weekly assignments, answering his quizzes online and making requirements for that subject. I have actually give my "yes" to him but still thinking if that is not violative of any laws in US for such doing might in a way constitute cheating.. What do u think? Is helping him violates any laws in the US?...

I think at the end of the day...it is all about integrity in the student. Personally, I do not respect people who do not put in their effort for studies and engage in other people to do their work for them. But if they are able to clear their exams with their own effort, I would think otherwise. Well...I think education has failed to teach him one important thing...moral...

I dont think your violoating any laws becuase just like cheating in school it falls under the school juridiction when it comes to punishing the person. However if he was ever to get casught im pretty sure most universities including online ones have strict policies agaist this.

It's not a violation of law, but if his online university has a rule about academic honesty he could get in trouble if he ever gets caught. I attend online classes at University of Phoenix and if you are caught plagiarizing another person's work (not citing references when you use them) or having another person do work for you, you could get kicked out of school. It's just like doing homework for someone who goes to a traditional university. There is no law that says you can't do your friend's homework, but the university probably has rules about doing someone else's work for them and considers it cheating. If it were me, I would say no to your friend. If he wants to earn his degree, he needs to learn the information for himself. You're just hurting him in the long run if you do this for him.
