I purchased a digital scale and you can go to the United States Postal Service website for rates once you figure out the weight. Or if you want, when you list the item, just enter the weight and bidders can calculate what their shipping costs will be. I always start as low as possible. That way people will say "hey, that's not a bad deal" and hopefully others will think the same. You may also want to search completed items to see how much an item similar to yours has sold for. Good luck with your eBay edeavors!

Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't know how to have it where they buyer could enter their zip and get their own shipping cost, that is what I relly want to do. I will be listing my very first auction today, hopefully all goes well. Thanks for the advice!!

I actually just started today. For the cost...do your research. What are other people selling for? I am trying to go a little lower than the other people. Make sure you charge enough to cover your eBay fees. As far as shipping I went on USPS.com and order Priority Boxes. They are free. When on there it says that no matter what is in the box...meaning weight the shipping is $8.10 I believe! Hope this helps a bit. I am still new myself, and was nervous putting that first item up for bid. Good luck if you do sell. Also, don't be afraid to try to sell on Craigslist. They are great as well and no costs involved.

Just be careful when using the flat rate Priority box. I lost money so many times on those things. It seems like a good deal because you don't have to worry about weight. However, I paid $8.10 several times on something that would normally cost $5 or $6. Also, I've found that a lot of bidders don't want to pay that much for shipping. Not always the case though. It was just easier for me to purchase a scale.

Yes, $8.10 seems a bit high for a lot of things, I think I want to go a lot lower than that, and I think I definently could if it was just say a pair of infant pants or a onesie. But thanks to both of you for your reply, it has helped!

Thank you so much for your honesty. What you say makes sense and I am going to see about changing what I ship. I would love to charge no shipping, but I don't want to lose money and with me just starting out I am a bit worried about that! We will see I guess, but thanks again!

My biggest suggestion is about your $1 start price. Start at 99 cents and you will save money on listing fees. If you go to Ebay under the help page it will give you all the fee info. If they are good brands and in good shape they will sell well. Mart brands normally don't sell. Shipping is cheap for baby clothes or toddler clothes. Are you shipping jeans? Tshirts? Get yourself a scale and you will be much happier! That way you don't have to guess.
