age limit

I wonder if other countries aside from Asia strictly employ those with ages 18-28 or a little older? I am baffled that's why I am asking this question. It seems that in my country , citizens that are aged from 30 and above are being cut off from the employment line. As if we are "junks" of the society. We can only hope to be employed in call centers if we're over aged. Does anyone there happen to know why is this so?Hope to hear from employers too, so I can understand why.thanks in advance.

Which country are you from? What is your job? I am a Chinese,it seems that our country doesn't do what as yours does. I think age 30-40 is the golden stage of our career.

its disappointing to know that you come from asia and tell me that yours is not particular with age limits. Well, I come from the Phillipines, I'm 41 y/o, a plain housewife since I got married 14 years ago. I opted to apply in my hometown initially, of course for location purposes. 11 out of 10 applications I dared try to apply to were hiring children, I mean young and newly graduates.Anyway, maybe life's like that,' I just have to accept it. I'm in the field of sales, I just want to try being an employee that's all.

We shared the same distaste with employment style, in the Philippines dicrimination for older people is rampant as if people aged 35 above are all disable. I also keep on asking this, why countries in Asia are so particular of age, people are not supposed to be categorized with age but with mental and physical capacities, there are individual aged 60 who are in better condition and more progressive compared to people who are in their late 20's. But in Europe and America, they did not look on age but on one's capabilities to handle job, I don't know why third world countries especially in Asia are so narrowminded with progress, no wonder improvement is hard to achieve.
