I have been wondering about this for ages and suddenly today I was thinking about it again. This is related to the many war movies that U have watched involving American soldiers on foreign land such as Vietnam and other parts of the world. The, I have also watched some movies that were about the post war life of those Americans that came back after serving their duty. I am not an American and that's why I have been wondering about this. When I watched those movies about American that came home from war, the story would always be about nightmares that they are having about the war, being left by their spouses and family, not being able to find jobs to support themselves and being homeless. Is this the real picture? Is this the common things that happened to them? I could understand about having nightmares and about being left by their families but the part that I could not understand are the jobless and homeless parts. How come they do not stay in the army? Are they forced to quit or they simply had enough of the military life? What happened to their salaries when they are away fighting the war? Did they finish everything and then they have no money when they came back hoe or they serve their country for free? Somehow, at the same time the movies are showing that the people and the government do not really care about their well being anymore. So, I hope somebody can fill me up with some truth as movies can be exaggerating most of the times so that I finally can take this off my mind. Cheers!

Hi I know what you mean, maybe we only see the worst possible senario, but you never see anybody with their families. It seems such a shame that these are the only things we see on the tv, there must be someone on here that can answer our questions for us,like you say they got paid all the time they were in the forces and if they were always fighting they could not spend it surely? you hear of soldiers in this country being dumped by the forces when they come out for some reason,it must be hard after leading the army life for so long. Come on someone put us right with this one.
