I've been looking for instructions to make these for years. I remember making them with my Girl Scout troop when I was a kid. I just ran into this great tutorial this morning and thought I'd share it.
Are there any craft projects you remember doing as a kid? What were they? Do you still remember how to make them?

It was my goof I hit post and then realized that I'd forgotten to paste the link - and of course, I couldn't edit or respond to my own discussion to add it on. Thanks for asking so I can put it up there!

That is really cute. I have never heard of lifesaver elves before. We use to make reindeer out of candycanes. Just add pipe cleaners for the antlers and either glue on eyes or use markers to draw them. Always add a little red pom pom nose to make rudolph.

How very cute! I know my youngest son would love to see those on our Christmas tree this year... he has a sweet-tooth for candy.
As a child, my hubby and his family would decorate dried out pinecones. They would spray a white-ish substance on them that made them look like snow and attach hooks to them. My sisters' and I would make clay decorations with my Mom for our tree.
They never last longer than a couple of years or so, but they were fun to make. I'll be making polymer clay decorations with my sons again this year. They'll help with the rolling of the clay, select the image they want to put on it (usually Pokemon or some action hero) and help with the glazing process. I'll handle the firing process and the glueing...lol.
We have done this the last couple of years and they like to make one for their teachers also.

We used to roll pine cones in Elmer's Glue and then in silver or gold glitter and attach a hanging loop to them. We've had a couple of very very lean years when I've turned the Christmas tree into a family craft project. We've used curling ribbon to make bows and ribbons to hang on the branches, and used cookies and candy canes to decorate, as well as cutout paper snowflakes. It's always fun to make things with the kids for tree decorations! Thanks for your response - I hope you have a wonderful time with the clay!
