This is a very broad topic and I can understand why you are lost? It is because there are so much about yourself that you do not know where to start. Get yourself organised in your writing. Begin from the place of birth, your gender,race,religion,nationality,role in your family,first word,interest,knowledge,associate,life goal,perspective,beliefs,character,traits,appearance etc...I'm sure that everyone has a life story but whether they want to share it is another issue.

I think when you go for an interview and they ask you to tell them about yourself, they are just looking for something brief to break the ice of the conversation. If you are married and have children you can tell them that.
You could also tell them about any hobbies that you may have or if you really enjoy travel. Whatever your favorite things may be. If you are a huge fan of a specific ball team. Just something outside of work that they wouldn't already know by looking at your resume.
I wish you well in your job hunt. Thanks for starting this discussion, and have a great day!

tell them about your likes and your dislikes ; Tell about your favorite things in
your life ; tell about your best friends ; your virtues and any bad days you had ;
tell about your intimacy with your family ; your life ambitions (not career related)
No need to tell them your bio data as they already have your CV in their hands .

I usually start with the basics like "I am a mom of 2 boys and a navy wife."
and then build up "I am a freelance writer on the side, I love poetry and animals. I enjoy the great outdoors, blablabla"
and then brag a little... "I have been published several times in books, online and in magazines; I received an award for working with the elderly, saved 5 people's lives, have a letter of appreciation from the navy blablabla"
and then wrap it up with something like "I'm pretty easy going, love talking to people and helping others out and make a killer beef stew!"
At one interview I ended with "anything else you want to know?" That's bad! Don't do that. Offer the stuff above (fill it in with you) and then if they want more, they'll ask.
Also, if they ask about weak points, name 2 or 3 and then how you are working on it... like "I tend to talk to talk a lot but I found that it's easy to ask someone for that conversation over coffee or say we'll finish this later." or "I tend to procrastinate, but I found that a list is helping me with that."
Good luck.
