Ice boating, also called ice yachting is a boat race run on ice.The boats look like sail boats but are specially equipped to run over ice.The boat can travel upto 160 kilometer per hour and is typically made of aluminium or fiber glass. It is 4.8 to 6 metres long and holds two people in a sitting position. Its hull is similar to an early air plane and under the hull are two sled runners which enable it to ply on ice.
An ice boat can actually travel faster than the prevailing breeze if the conditions are right. In a 10 mile per hour wind , for example, an ice boat may travel up to 40 miles per hour.
The ice yacht challenge of pennant of america is open to boats of any size and is generally considered as the most prestigious award in american ice boating.

Woahh... Cool information. Where did you get these information? Hmm... I guess I am too afraid to do ice yachting since I am too afraid to try and we don't have it here in my country. Happy Mylotting and Happy HOlidays! Cheers!
