Hi All - I've got 50 pounds to lose - Yes, really, 50 POUNDS, (I can't believe it myself!) and want to ask all of you who have been here and done that - How did you do it? Are you doing it now? How are staying motivated, what kind of daily plan do you put into action? And - what about the Holidays coming up - how do plan to get through them?

I need to lose over 100.
the roomie is going to have bypass surgery after the first of the year. I'm hoping that after that, since she will be eating less, a LOT less, that I will also cut back and since they want her to start an exercise program that maybe we can join Curves and actually get into some kind of better shape.

I did Cruves for awhile, but it just wasn't for me. It did inspire me to start my own routine at home, since I own a bench and some free weights along with some resistence bands. I'll dig all that out again and get back at it.
Good luck to you and your roommate with the bypass surgery! I hope you are able to lose along with her, without having to spend the money or undergo surgery!

I know how stressful that can be for you. My mom just got out of the hospital and was told that she needed to lose 100 lbs or she would be back in there next year. I am trying almost as hard as she is to help her. I actually just finished an article about this. It is on ehow.com and titled "How to Lose Weight Without a Diet". Maybe this will help you.

Thanks Kmarie - I will look it up. I added you as a friend, so maybe you can send me a link to the article?
Also - something else, how did you change your page (here on mylot) to be all white? Mine is red and blue and hard to read, and I cannot figure out how to change it!
Thanks for the info

I just recently lost 10 pounds, and have lost about 4 inches around my waist for the year.
At first I was working out a lot with weight training, Tae-Bo and Sweatin' to the Oldies. With that I lost over 2 inches around my waist, but I didn't lose any weight at all.
In the last month and a half, I have lost over 10 pounds mainly by walking. I have been doing other exercises too, but the main thing I have tried to do is walk at least 5 days a week for a half an hour. It may seem like a long time to walk, but if you try to route out your walk where you are not walking in circles, but more taking a fast paced scenic walk it doesn't seem so difficult. Especially after you have done it for a while.
Good luck to you in reaching your goal. I hope you do well. Have a great day!

It's interesting how some exercises make us lose inches, but not pounds, others pounds but not so many inches.
It seems like just as I "get into" an exercise routine, I get sick, stop for awhile and then it's hard to get back into to.
After reading your post last night, I did go out for a walk. It is so beautiful where I live that I really enjoyed it and made a promise to myself, and the big saguaro out front, to walk at least 3 times a week and enjoy this beauty that is all around me.
Thanks so much for the inspiration!
