The advice of having something next to the bed to grab and eat is good advice, for me having a couple saltines before I got out of bed helped a lot.
And for during the day my saving grace was mints. Just those plan old starlight mints. Another thing if you get sick in the car, which I did really badly, try to always sit upfront... it helps with the motion sickness.
I hope this helps.
As for how long it lasts... mine didn't even start till I was 10 weeks, but it stayed till I was about 24 weeks.

I had severe morning, afternoon, night sickness when I was pregnant. Here are some things that help. Keep a drink by your bed and maybe some cherrios. Sit up and wake up before you get out of bed try to eat a couple of handfuls of something and get a drink then get up. If riding in the car makes you sick try chewing gum, or suck on cinnamon candy. Also I ended up going to accupucture. It did the trick and helped with other issues I had like water weight and muscle soreness. I know there are a lot of people that don't like needles but when you are so sick you are afraid you will loose the baby you will try anything. It helps with the headaches also. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

I am almost 20 weeks and still feel sick a lot and nothing works for me (and this is my second child and I was sick with my first as well). I cant throw up as much as I would like to as that makes me feel better. I have tried lots of things to stop this and nothing works for me. The main thing that helped me is not eating acidic food like lemon, orange that sort of things that helped a little. Also ginger but I cant stand the taste of ginger. I am told there is tablets with ginger and some vitamin that helps and also today I was told a wrist band that you get from the chemist helps I will try this soon. as for when it would stop well if you are lucky around 12 weeks in my case I would be lucky if I have 1 month off to enjoy my bump.

You can try going outside because it's sometimes chilly in the morning and then stay out for about 5 minutes and then come in and take a hot shower. Sometimes when I wake up I feel like throwing up so I do that. And you can try eating oranges, lemons, pineapples, pomegranate, and sour apples.

Hey. Thanks for the suggestions. It was more terrible today morning. I cant go out because it is like -9 and even getting up from bed is an effort for me these days.I like the idea of lemons and pomengrates. I should try that. I have read that if I have something lightly to eat as soon as I get up,it helps a lot

I am pregnant also and I too have bad morning sickness. My doctors prescribed Phinigen Supositories and Vatamine B6. They also suggested fireballs, ginger, gingerale, and eating small meals 4 or 5 times a day. I hope this helps and congratulations on your pregnancy. I think Phinigren works best on me. I would talk to the doctor about it.
