How far could you be pushed before fighting back in this situation?!

I totally understand how this student felt. You cannot recreate that work. Yes, you should back up. But, it is easier to beat up the guy trying to steal it. hahahahahaha. Third years would not be more docile either because we have our bar exam applications on there. No way would we give those up.

If you are in law school, you are not lazy. Studying is your life. You can get another guitar. You cannot get more class notes.

I'm in college and I honestly would have beat the tar out of the person...and done more damage!!! There is nothing like loosing four months worth of notes or work! I'm not in law school, but there are classes where there is work that I spend weeks on that I would be beyond upset if I lost it to a thief! I back everything up, but still it is taking away the equipment that is necessary for completing the task at hand. I looked at the link, and the guy didn't get busted up enough in my opinion...he got off very easy!
Shoot, I had people breaking into my freezer and stealing food. I set a rat trap in there for them the next time I came home from the grocery store. It cured them, but they spent time in a cast for some broken knuckles!! I can't figure out why they never came back for more food. In short people know not to steal from me.
