With the internet and all that we can find on it, does anyone still pick up a good old fashioned book and read it? I love to sit and read a good book. I try to read atleast one per week. I can't be the only one! Do you read books?

Reading actual books is generally too difficult for me. But some books aren't available on audio so I have to read them in paperback. I usually always have one paperback I'm reading, but it will usually take me at least 6 months to finish it. And with audiobooks I read at least one per week. I also read some books that have been scanned in and can be read to me by the computer.

My son is like that. I think it's why he gave up on reading. It takes him too long to read a book but if it is read to him, he loves it. I'm so glad that there are books on tape and CD. It helps open books to people who otherwisw might not open them.

That is interesting, Pigglies. Where do you find out about books that have been scanned in and can be read to you by the computer?

I love to read. There is nothing like curling on the couch in the winter and in the summer laying on a blanket at the beach or at a park. I read evey day. My problem is I keep buying books that I may never get around to reading plus I check out books from the Library. I went back to school now that my kids are in high school so now I'm unable to read two and three books a week. Happy Reading.

The good news is, when you have some time to yourself, you'll have a few good books waiting for you! I think it's great that you went back to school!

Do like certain books in the summer then you do during the winter months? I look for winter setting in the summer and vice versa in the winter.

Yes...yes..yes..LOL. You are not alone. I'm a reader myself. I must have a book with me all the time. I love to read, and I'm addicted to fiction, currently into PNR books. Although I do read e-books and listen to audiobooks, I still prefer to hold a book in my hand. Libraries and bookstores are my favorite browsing places, and if I have money to spare, it is usually spend on books. So, yes, the art of reading is not abandoned. If you like to hang out with fellow readers, you might like to check out goodreads.com. There you can keep track of books you have read, currently reading and your TBR list.

I read two to three books a week. I thought about getting like a kindle to read books on and i just can't do it. To me it wouldn't be the same. I like holding the book in my hands and being able to turn the pages.

Me too. I love to hold them and sink down into the couch with them and carry them around with me. My husband thinks it's weird. I think he needs to pick up a book!

hi rebecca! wow, you havent been on mylot for a while. Glad you're back now :) Yes, i do still like to read 'real' book. I love smelling the paper, especially the old books. Feels like they're trying to say that since they've been around probably even before i existed, they have lots to tell me. Yes, i'm a bookworm to the core i think lol. what i like about the real book is that we can read it whatever pose we're making lol. I mean, there are only certain position you can make when you read e-book. And from facing the computer all day at the work place, a real book's pages is kinda my relief too :) glad to hear from you again, rebecca!

Hey Goldflower! Ya, I've been gone for quite a while. I have been on A/C and SM trying to make a little money. I love reading books too. I also love the smell of old books. Especially leather bound books. I will read books for the rest of my life.

Ha! Kindred spirits! My husband gets aggravated with me because I tune him out when I'm reading. His favorite thing to say is "You always have your' nose stuck in a book!" Better stuck there than somewhere else!

How strange to think youre the only one who reads. Not only do schools (in the US at least ) require it but its a favorite past time for many. Unfortunately i dont have as much time to read anymore as Id like but I always keep a few good books in the bathroom for my "personal time". I still read 2-3 a week that way.

It may seem like a strange question to some. Here is why I ask... In my house, only me and my oldest daughter enjoy curling up with a good book. It aggravates my husband that I read so much. He wouldn't pick up a book if it stood up and begged him to. Most of our friends don't read. So I have to wonder if I'm in a minority now.

It would have to be an unconventional book club. I live fifteen miles from the closest town and I'm in the middle of a forest. Maybe I'll find an online book club. It's worth looking into.

I could never give up reading actual books. I love the feel of a book in my hands, I love turning the pages, and even hearing pages turn. Hardback, paper back, I love books! I'll be a hard one to win over to the ebook bandwagon.

I do enjoy a good ebook but there is just no replacing a good old fashioned book!

Life without books would be torture! I can't carry the computer with me wherever I go so I can read comfortably in teh doctor's waiting room, or over lunch out on the patio, etc. Books are wondrous things, and they will never become extinct. Maybe the junk will go away.

My fiance and I read books.. Right now we are searching for a certain book in a certain set, and we found one but haven't ordered it yet. The thing is, it doesn't have a picture, but even a picture can be a fool... We tried to get one before, or actually twice before but it wasn't the right book. We ended up going to a different county to get disappointed... In any case, so yes, we do still read books..

It's good to hear that people still read. I would hate to see books become obsolete.

Yup RebeccaLynn, I still read actual, physical books. They are so much easier to hold, whether I'm lazing on the sofa or reading in bed; I can't very well go to sleep with an ebook on my laptop.

I remember I used to read a lot more in the past then I do right now. I think a lot of people have stopped reading as much including me because of the Internet and everything you can find on it. But now I will try to read more.

I read on the internet too. I LOVE research. But to me, there is nothing like a good book. I hope that you read a book more often. I don't know what it is about holding a book. It has always been comforting to me.

I still read actual books. I think the internet has made things a lot easier for people who want to read but there is still that really pronounced sense of accomplishment everytime you finish a book. I even collect books -if my budget allows. lol

LOL! I have more books than I know what to do with! But I read and re-read them. I think there is a sense of accomplishment when you have finished a book too. It just feels good!
