Is it selfish to expect serious remuneration after coming from college. Many persons especially those from the sixties, which was time of high social consciousness, would feel that doing a degree only for money is being a "sell out" and a capitalist. They believe everything you do should be for the greater good of all humankind .Nothing is wrong with this notion except that who pays the tons of student loans that you have accrued over the years of study .What is wrong with wanting a car ,a home ,and nice things.

Ronnyb,
If your passion is to work for a charity or non for profit I would sugguest maybe going to a state school or a community college if you're going to have to pay for college. A charity would be glad to have you work for them regardless of where your degree is from if you are dedicated to the cause. I graduated from a private four year college four years ago and I work for consulting firm. At this point I feel like I haven't put a dent towards my student loans after four years. So, if you're not sure how you're gonna pay for them I would say think twice before you take them out.

HI, I am not sure of your problem, times have changed and if those sixties hippies can't move on then its there fault. There is nothing wrong with making a lot of money and having nice things .Charity work is hard work and why should you do it for nothing, you can take all these skills you have and put them to the good of others.I worked for an old peoples home and we relied on the people like you for so much and then there are hospices ect that need fundraisers, everybody else gets paid for their work why should't you get paid for yours, you go for it.xxx

hi ronnyb!
i wouldn't mind doing charity work right after college. i wouldn't mind helping others. but since i don't come from a rich family, i also have to consider earning and supporting my family and also saving up for my future family. so full time charity work would have to become part time after awhile.
it really depends on your priorities. my priority is my family. while, i would also like to help as much as i can, i think i will help my family first. :D
take care and God bless you!

I would consider doing some charity work after college, however i would still like to make some money as i do need to pay back my students loans and support my own family. I think most of my charity work would be done towards the end ofmy career as not only would i have more experience to offer but i would also be better of in a financial sense so i would better know my limitaions for how much of my time i can dedicate of charity work.
