I've got interested in organic farming a few years ago after realizing that all our foods are laced with chemicals used to treat farms to gain better harvest, and thus, will have earned more for the farmers. Yes, the farmers have benefited but opposite happened to the consumers because health was sacrificed for money. Not only that, the environment also suffered, global warming, red tide poisoning, are just few of the effects for using chemicals to treat plants. Then farmers concerned with the environment and over-all health of people started looking for ways to improve farm production without sacrificing people's health and environment. That is why organic farming was developed, or should I say, re-introduced. Organic farming uses natural methods in treating pests in the farm and applying natural fertilizers to yield more harvest. Backyard organic farming is ideal for urban setting where there is no more space to make bigger gardens or farms for large scale production. I started doing backyard organic farming to augment my meager income, and at the same time, eat fresh vegetables free of chemicals that can destroy health. Great benefits will be achieved if all people will patronize organic products, so join now. Share your experiences also.

I agree with you. Hongkong and Singapore, especially Singapore, pressed for space, are also into organic gardening with containers using all available spaces on rooftops, even windows. The world is steadily going organic.

In this way also we rid of hazardous chemicals that shortening our lives. If everyone will go into organic gardening, we won't be dependent anymore on processed foods, which sometimes laced with chemicals like Melamine. Everyone must join hands in preserving our planet for the future generations to come.
