This normally happens when your toothpaste has that minty taste to them. The mint clouds over your taste bud, so the other tastes you'll ingest is affected by it. It's just essentially the fact that the minty aftertaste of toothpaste overpowers all other tastes and, well. Mint + insert foodstuff here = not a good combination, thus, not tasting too nice on your mouth.
It's the same way why a sweet foodstuff doesn't taste as sweet when you've eaten something much sweeter before it. Try drinking a really sweet juice or tea, then try cake afterwards. The cake won't taste as sweet as it normally it because you've become used to something sweeter. :)

Well, it is because the toothpaste has such a weird taste to it. I am not sure what the right word is, but toothpaste is used to clean your teeth, so it has some weird ingredient to it, that lets you know that your teeth are clean. ;) So, of course, food or drink will taste funny immediately afterward. :)
