Why do boys tease/hit girls they like???

I remember growing up all the boys would pick on/tease/hit the girls. Now, my daughter is getting hit (in a playful way) by a little boy in her class. I know his mom and she mentioned that he has a crush on her. Why do boys do that? Is it a lame attempt to get the girl's attention or what??? What are your thoughts?

Well... I really think that little guys only do that to the girls they like. I have made some observation about that, and I found out that guys won't do that to girls who didn't get their attention. I think it is because of they are too shy to admit their feeling, and it is because they don't want to be teased, so instead of admitting their feeling they started to teased the girl.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I personally spend 7 years of grade school w/ a boy who did the same thing to me. When I had to change schools a girlfriend of mine told me about 6 months after I left that he said he "missed me". This is a boy who refused for 7 years that he cared about me. Now we're grown & I look on my MySpace after a year of not going on it & he went out of his way to say hi to me & tell me that him & his wife were having a baby. Mind you, this guy doesn't go out of his way all the time to talk to me, but he made sure to tell me his important life event.
This is all after 23 years of observing this one person who made my life hell in school & was all happy to hear I moved back home 4 years ago. You be the judge.
P.S. I was MADLY in love with him, but I'm looking at my spouse & his spouse & we just were NOT meant to be together. Oh well. I truly am happy for him.
