Right now on MTV there is a rock band competition. The so called Music Television is officially supporting fake music. Rock Band is such a stupid invention that prevents kids that could actually be playing real instruments and forming pieces of art from doing so. Video games are officially take over our youth. How could we let them take over music our sacred treasure to everyone?

MTV stopped dealing with music a long time ago, now its about reality shows. I also disagree on the rock band part. I think that if kids could be inspired enough to pound out on a fake drum set to a song by a band like Rush or AC/DC that they might just have the will to actually learn how to play the drums. I think it is more of a gateway to instruments then a blockade.

I have to disagree with you. My youngest daughter took guitar in school for three years. She graduated this past spring and still likes to play and to learn new music by downloading tabs. My husband, who is an old school guitar player, completely objects to tabs and feels that she should learn how to read music. Both of them do agree, though, that Guitar Hero is a fun game to play. It's the thread that binds them. My grandson likes to play, too, and because of that game he is interested in learning to play the guitar for real. So, I don't agree that the video game is taking the place of a love of and desire to make music...I think it's an enhancement to it.

I, as much as I have tried, do not have a natural talent for playing guitar. However on guitar hero, I can be a superstar and play guitar awesomely - its called having fun, and I would assume the programme on MTV is pretty entertaining!

MTV sold out to fake music and reality shows a long time ago, starting with "the real world" I miss when Head Bangers Ball was still the best show on tv. But rock band is great, if you want to learn lyrics to songs, not so much the instruments. I found rock band great because I can show up all of my friends on the game, and then go play the same song on my guitar. Rock band really does help improve my speed, and endurence while playing my real guitar.
