Do you ever get distracted reading emails and then get nothing else done?

Last night, I really wanted to update my blog, but got distracted with my Gmail email box. It was crammed with all kinds of unsolicited SPAM mails. That stuff had to go. And, there were about 100 emails that I had missed reading during my time offline. So they had to be dealt with. Overall, it was a big waste of time. I got nothing done. Do you ever get distracted with emails and then get nothing else done?

Oh yes most definitely. Mine was not spam though as I have a great filter for that. But I started to read my mylot notifications. Before I knew it 6 hours had flown by. Luckily I am at home and don't work so it wasn't a problem. Before I knew it my points had increased by nearly 80. I did nothing else really except make lunch for dad and I and have some coffes is all. Got to go get dinner now as I want to have some McDonalds for a change. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sounds like my day, except I still have tons of cleaning and dishes to do. So that will be the highlight of my day.

Yes, I get distracted. I think I just spent an hour reading them just now. You actually do not realise just how time consuming it can be. Then you get carried away and answer them too. I have not got many discussions on here answered tonight like I had planned. In an hour there will be more in the inbox again too. It is very annoying but I suppose we have to read some of them and clear the junk out. Take care and I hope you do not get so many tonight.

Yes, you can easily spend an hour on that. It is completely distracting. You don't even know how much time has gone by until it's too late! And, yes, it will always be there again for you tomorrow! Grr!

Hi, Bob, Yes it is very addictive. Do you think Mylot sends spam by any chance? Just thought I would ask you when I seen you again.

From I joined Mylot a few weeks ago I have been getting a lot of spam. I think it might be to do with them, but I am not 100% certain.

I don't usually get that many important emails but when it comes to message boards, I can get drawn in easily!

This always happens t me infact there's never enough time in the day for me to check out all the sites I use daily as well which is a little disappointing as I always make a point of spending at least an hour on here at least everyday and that's before I attempt to spend my time at other sites. A couple of days ago had a copious amount of emails in my inbox which I spent at least hour and hour to an hour on just checking through and deleting them. What with the amount of survey sites I am registered with too I also have a constant influx of these in my inbox and normally recieve about 5 a day. Of course many I start with the intention of only spending a few minutes on them but some go on for minutes at a time and some nearly stretch to an hour and still don't offer that much award....perhaps i'm just too easily distracted.

The other night, was my first time back online in about a week. I had almost 20 emails from various survey companies. I qualified for two surveys, which was $4.00. Not bad for a few minutes work online. I was online anyway, so it's not like I was taking time away from real work.

Yes, this happens to me all of the time. It doesn't matter what I do, the SPAM always gets through! It is nothing but a big, huge, colossal WASTE of time! GRR! I hear ya! :(

I worry that cyber SPAM will consume the entire planet. Just wish we could cook all that SPAM up and feed it to the hungry masses. A worthy use for such a useless thing.

Constantly, but it is so much fun. I have a freelance piece to do, but I have not touched it this evening. Probably will tomorrow morning, when I am mentally fresher.

That's the story of my life. LOL My husband and I are presently sharing a computer. We share it by the hours (I take an hour, he takes one) unless he goes to the resource centre to use their computers, as he likes them better than my laptop, and I go to the cafe). In order not to lose track of time I set the timer in my cellphone, so I know when to give him the computer. LOL

I used to time share my computer with hubby, until he bought another (older) computer. He rarely uses my computer now, unless I'm asleep.

Gotta love those viral videos. Though they do get repetitive after awhile.

Yes i am currently going through all my emails at the minute and there are over 400 of them. It seems to take so long to get through them at least a whole day is wasted by having to sift through them, but if I do not then I know I will miss out on something!

I think that I made it through 30 emails and was exhausted. I'd die if I had to go through 400 in a day.

Yeah that happens to me alot, if I go one day without checking it, I can have over 100 emails, most of them are spam, and surveys, and of course discussions that my friends started, and when I start looking at them and answering them, I can sit here all day and get nothing else done...

So very often, I try now to make sure I have a little more time than I need when I come on the pc to ensure I can reply to e mails etc.. but I still get distracted and i have a nice layer of dust over my sitting room shelfs etc

Spam has got to be the biggest time waster and such a drain on the economy I think it must rank right behind those NINA loans that sunk all those finance companies. I spend hours each week weeding out junk. One of the ways I found helps is to get a disposable email address that forwards the email to your regular email address. When the spammers get a hold of your disposable you dispose of it and make a new one.

Hello beauty queen. I have to say that I do because sometimes I deal with all of those emails in my inbox by reading them one after another and delete those unwanted. But I am glad that I can spend some time dealing with them as I will have to do it sooner or later.

I do get distracted by the computer when I have a list of jobs to do. I try to limit the amount I do on the computer so that I can do my house chores and any errands I might have. Computers especially emails and mylot is a very big distraction.

I get distracted all the time with emails. I get a ton of spam (which i filter through) but I get ton that make it through the section and now I just get distracted and make my way through. I get in the same boat as you do.

Yeah this happens usually. But you can avoid the same by creating folders or labels and by using filter facility of the website. This saves us a lot of our time.
