I MISS EN VOGUE... anyone remember them? Never Gonna Get it? Hold on? They sang with Salt n Pepa on Whatta Man.... What great songs! And what about Dexy's Midnight Runners? Don't know who they are -- yeah I'm sure you know their song -- Come on Eileen?! Do you have a favorite one hit wonder or song that you just miss?

I have heard of En Vogue, but that's about it.
Throughout the - perhaps half a century or even more, when they were actually able to record music & have it play (such as Tom Edison's phonograph), there have been WAAAYYY too many one-hit wonders to list or remember. Sometimes, one song comes out, & then that's it (for various reasons). Other times, they have one hit, & when they make more music, it fails to sell or get popular. There are some musicians &/or bands that usually have a lot of music out, but cater to only a certain genre that might end up with maybe a popular song or two.
One hit wonders across the decades that I can think of:
The Big bopper - Chantilly & Lace (If it wasn't for that plane crash, he probably would have had more songs & maybe even hits.)
Rosie & The Originals - Angel Baby
Nazareth - Love Hurts
There's so many one-hit wonders, & it's tough trying to make that list off the top of my head.
Several of these singers, bands & musicians have not really vanished completely. They actually instead, chose to help other artists by writing songs for them, & even working in the recording studio with them. The 1950's group, The Moonglows had two big hits as singers, but I'm not sure what happened with all of the members of the group, but two of them, Harvey Fuqua, the lead singer, & Bobby Lester ended up weiting & producing songs at Motown, the most well-known song written & produced by them being My Whole World Ended by David Ruffin (after he left the Temptations). It was originally supposed to be a Temptations song with David as the lead singer on it, but because David Ruffin was no longer part of The Temptations, it was the first song, as well as a big hit of his solo career. Then Van McCoy, who had that big hit The Hustle back in 1973, also produced David Ruffin's big hit, Walk Away From Love in 1975.
The Bee Gees are a bit more obvious. In the 1980's, they wrote & produced several songs for other artists. Furthermore, it's also a bit obvious, because if you listen to the backing vocals, it is obviously their voices. Those songs were:
Islands In The Stream - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
Chain Reaction - DIana Ross
Heartbreaker - Dionne Warwick

I was a teenager when the Spice Girls came out ... I didn't mind a few songs. I really liked Spice up your life... or oh i forgot ... 2 into 1 something like that... that wasn't bad either. I have to give it up to them ... Girl Power message -- I think at the time, music didn't always have a positive message backing in up. 90's was depressing and gloomy hu? But there come 5 hyper brit girls to make everyone smile. lol :) Thanks for responding !
