It is snowing here and isn't quitting anytime soon..Actually it is going to be snowing into Saturday...We have at least 12 inches right now and that is just from about 5 am... It got me to thinking of The Storm of The Century...Movie by Stephen King Portrayed on Little Tall Island in the state of Maine, USA...where snow fell and fell and the town had to find shelter..... Only this storm isn't going to have Evil come with it...At least I hope not...... And then there is the movie The Day After Tomorrow...Global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age...The entire Northern Hemisphere is freezing solid....... Well I certainly don't think we are going to be in a frozen state from this storm.. It isn't uncommon for it to snow here..Pennsylvania..but this just seems way too soon...and way to much........ My son just called and the snow is up past his knees...and he is 6 foot 5 inches tall...So about 24 inches of snow there or more...and he has a steep hill to drive down to get to work this evening at 11 pm....... So how is the weather by you?....And did you watch either of the movies I mentioned?

I am not ready for snow yet. I have to get snow tires for my car. New boots to replace the clunky old ones I had last year. I guess I am whining. ~sigh~

I did relocate my big bag of icemelt, when I cleaned out the shed. I know where the snow shovel is, so bring it on.

I only wear boots when I shovel or snowblow the snow. I also buy all season tires all the time. Much easier that way actually. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

yup saw Storm of the Century can hardly past up a Steven King movie! I have been watching on the weather channel of all the snowing going on and it makes me cold to think of it but when I lived in a snow state seemed like it warmed up some when it snowed. Just hoping Utah and Colorado get alot of snow this year would help with our dought. as they are the states our water comes from and it has to snow on the west side of Colorado to get in to the river. We have had above normal temps here but we are going down and probably to fastand peple will get sick from it. Thats nature for ya lol

Oh man. I want a snowstorm so badly. It's been quite cold here. I've my lights up and on outside. I need some snow for it to look VERY festive. I recall back on Halloween Day 1991 we had a terrible storm that is still called the storm of all storms ever for Minneapolis MN area. We got 48 inches of snow in a 24 hour span. Yes 4 feet total in 24 hours. The city was shut down for 3 days. No buses, no traffic etc. Onl;y the hardy ventured out. Of course I was one of those hardy individuals. I loved the movie and have it on DVD. I want some snow NOW! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Snow scene - snow
Dear Grandpa Bob... I will UPS some up and over to you right away...Keep that shovel handy.... We moved here from Arizona in August 1993 and on halloween we had 8 inches of snow...Brrrr... My kids didn't have any winter clothes...I mean nothing...They went out trick-or-treating anyway..They thought it was the coolest thing ever.... After 15 years we are used to it... It is extremely beautiful outside...The trees are awesome...Truly a spectacular event... Can I borrow you camera for a minute.....taking pictures...sending them to you...thank you.....*smiles*.... I need a digital camera soooo very bad...I've been good so hopefully Santa will bring me one.... Grandpa Bob...tomorrow when I'm shoveling I will be thinking of you and make a few snowballs especially for you...okay?

They called for flurries today. I am in Jersey, by the PA border. Where in PA are you? I didn't see any flurries today though. By the looks of the weather channel it went south of like down by Philly or even Delaware. I have watched the movie "The Day After Tomorrow", but not "Storm of The Century". Ever watch "It Could Happen Tomorrow?" on the weather channel? That's kinda freaky. Like NYC washing away, California falling into the ocean etc...they sure know how to scare us!

Hi, Feona, I have not seen either movie, but I have seen a little snow. Not nearly so much as you are having, though. It is just cold here, and windy. One year we had big fluffy wet snow on Halloween, though. That was about ten years ago, or more.

I Loooovvvveeed Storm of the Century. King is such an amazing writer. Snow storms are obviously another of his phobias. The Day After Tomorrow was....interesting. I hate to say that it was unrealistic after saying that a movie about a snow devil was great, but I found them totally different. The day after tomorrow was supposed to be some kind of reality and with the King work, we know it goes into the supernatural. I did jump off my chair a time or two while watching day after tomorrow, and I cheered when the helicopters found people on top of the buildings. But....it didn't stay with me. Having said all that, I love the snow. I grew up in Ocean City, Maryland. I now live by the Chesapeake bay. I remember the snows when I was growing up. We didn't have many, but when we had a good snow storm, it was great. I miss those days. Anyhow, thanks for the memories and the movies.

Hi cyntrow.. I know what you mean about "The Day after Tomorrow" and I did cheer when they were all rescued.. I loved the snow as a kid..we had tons of fun..skating, sledding, riding snowmobiles..building snow forts and snowmen... You are welcome for all the memories..*smiles*

Hi! I live in Philadelphia and it has continually snowed (on-and-off) for the past two days. Lucky for us here, there is no snow build up because it was not really heavy snowing. Right now, on a Saturday morning (November 22nd), it's sunny although there is a chill factor outside. Nevertheless, the snow has melted and the streets are drying up. I was quite worried yesterday, though. I thought we would have a heavy build-up worse than last year, because the snow came too early (just as you mentioned it). I saw the "Day After Tomorrow" but not the other one (I will try to get hold of the DVD). I believe the movie ("The Day..") indeed has a scientific basis, so there are efforts gearing towards solving the problems of global warming before it gets worse. Great discussion. Happy myLotting!

That sounds horrible, I am in UK and all week I have heard on the weather that there would be snow by today, then it changed and it would only hit certain parts and then this morning it has changed to being over the weekend and most parts to get it. I guess I will just have to wait and see! We did not have any snow at all last year I have not seen any of the movies that you mentioned.

snow - snowy trees
I have watched The Day After Tomorrow and I love that movie. I haven't watched the other one you mentioned. I love snow but I live in Middle Georgia so it never snows here. It gets pretty cold sometimes but no snow. If it is going to be so cold you might as well get something pretty to look at instead of just being miserable.I wish it would snow here. But if that ever happens I think we would really have something to worry about. Right now it is about 34 degrees outside but it feels a lot colder because the wind is blowing so hard. It am listening to the wind whistling outside now.

If it even looks like snow every thing here closes down. School is cancled as well as all government office close. Back about 10 years ago it was taking people up to 10 hours to drive their usual 30 minuate to an hour drive home. They don't know how to drive in snow or rain really. It have dumped about 3 inches of snow. The state doesn't have the equipment to handle any snow There are a lot of accidents when it rains. Right now we are having tempatures in the 60 during the day and close to the 30s at night. It is cold for this time of the year. I haven't seen either of those movies. With that much snow don't you have a lot of power lines going down from broken tree branches and the witght of the snow on them.

No snow in Georgia but we did have snow for a couple of days back in around 1978. I had just come from Germany so I was used to pleny of snow. I cannot say the same of the local they were going nuts. The children loved being able to build snowmen but the adult did not have a clue how to drive in it and that was a mess. It is nice and cold (for us) here it will be 28F tonight. I did see both movies and enjoyed them as I love these type of movies.
