I definitely support stem cell research. It has the potential to save many lives. Any disease with atrophy can be benefitted. While the focus is currently on neurodegenerative diseases, they are several more cases where stem cells could help. Diabetes, lung cancer, accident victims...the possibilities are endless. The whole fetus issue in my mind is actually not AS controversial as it is made out to be. Sure, many people believe that abortion is bad and life begins at conception. But as long as it is legal (and probably even after it isn't) people will be getting abortions. Isn't it better to use these aborted fetuses for life saving cures rather than throwing them in the biowaste? Wouldn't that be the best way to offer life to something that wouldn't get another chance at it?

hi lil,
u see stem cell research has got a lot of potential...like it can help us know a person suffering from genetic disorder to know the gene and change it, or in diabetics. it got lots of scope, but if used for wrong reasons, then it can be very dangerous too...so i'd vouch for judicious use

I believe in stem-cell research simply because that could be the answer to so many health issues that we see today. A stem-cell can turn into any type of cell in our bodies. Think of the good it could do! I know this is a controversial issue because people have issues about where the stem cells come from. BUT, there are studies that show that stem cells can be collected from umbilical cords AFTER a woman gives birth as well. I definitely think it has it positive possibilities!
