I am not slim but I am pretty healthy. I've never been sick and never been hospitalized for any ailments. I love walking as a form of exercise. I do it on the beach. Sometimes I even do it on water. I just like the current and the ease it gave me. My aunts have varicose veins when they are in their twenties. Yet, while it also has "genetic" predesposition, I am glad that this practice did not result for me to develop despite the nature of my job wherein there's frequent standing. I elevate my legs also. Do you do the same? If you have varicose veins, what do you think made you develop it? Was that after pregnancy?

I walk a lot. Always have. I really thought I was doing well for health with my 30 minutes a day but a recent study published in Remedy Magazine shows that it needs to be just under an hour a day, five days a week. This is of course for weight loss and to keep the weight off. Yikes. Guess it will be a year or two for the USA's recommendation for 30 minutes a day for 5 days will be updated. You can see the findings in Archives of Internal Medicine.
I don't have varicose veins yet. But I can see where they are starting. Ever since I was pregnant with my son. Mine also run in the family. But, so long as I keep moving and maintain a semblance of health, I don't care what they look like. :)

Oh I would do a lot of walking if I lived near the beach too, I love walking on the beach, I used to go to the beach with two plastic bags, one I would collect nice shells and the other I would pick up rubbish, lots of broken glass and stuff, it is wonderful walking on the beach.
