I think that there are lots of great music from the 80's, but the some of the modern music is also great. If I had to choose between the two, I would probably pick music from the 80's. I was a teenager in the late 80's and many of the songs bring back a lot of memories. Some of the discos in my town still play music from the 80's and it is fun to go there and dance to the music from my youth. Modern music is not just one thing, there are many different kinds of music now, and even though I like some of it, there are also bands etc that I don't like.

Hmm.. I could see that you have memories of 80's. Well, I'm a person from the 80's. To be exactly, I was born in 90's. But even so, I likes to hear classic musics rather than modern music. This is because from what I could see, most modern music is about love. That's why I prefer musics from the 80's.

Everybody got his own answer for this question..If you ask me I like 80's more than modern music. Especially because i grew up in the 80's. Some bands/singers I like:
A-Ha, Billy Ocean, Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Chicago, Hall & Oates, The Communards, Dire Straits, Foreigner and so on and on..I have an 80's playlist over 520 tracks, which I listen to everyday and never get tired of it.

I think I must agreed with your opinion. Everybody has their own taste of music. We can't say just one type of music is the best, I think. For me, I always hear classic musics with anime musics. I will shuffle them before I hear them. And whenever I hear them, I feel much relax.
Thanks for the response.

I prefer 80s music that I heard in the top 40 then to the modern music that I sometimes hear. When I hear 80s music it brings back many happy memories and the tunes are fantastic. I liked Beat It and Billy Jean and it was excellent when Thriller came out. That is my favorite tune. I liked Holiday and Luck Star and I went to a Madonna concert. A couple of years later I went to a Duran Duran concert. I still ready enjoy listening to Please Tell Me Now and All She Wants. In the 1980's and the early 1990s there was great music. After that I didn't like the later music made as much. Perhaps the reason for this is my age, in my teenage years and early twenties kept up with the top 40. Now I listen to my own compact disks.

That's an impossible question to answer, even though I really like 80's music, too. There are so many great bands from the 80s and from today, I don't see how anyone could pick just one era, although a lot of today's bands were influenced by bands from the 80's. Equally, a lot of today's bands were influenced by bands from the 90's as well. So I really think what you like in general would be part of the deciding factor as to which era you think is best.

Hmm... Maybe in your country today music bands were influenced by the 80's and the 90's but not in my country, Malaysia. From what I observed, I found out that most of the music bands in my country today were influenced by their own ways of thinking. Only some were influenced by the classic.

It's really a matter of opinion. For me, the only thing I listen to is 80s music (with a little opera and classical and Gregorian chant thrown in. lol) simply because I can't stand what passes as rock music today, and because I have a lot of memories connected with 80s music. :) The music of today, for me, is so manufactured and so fake...there is rarely a singer who writes his/her own music now, so the creativity has gone down the drain. It makes me want to tear my hair out.
