Animal Testing

Many more animals than we think have products tested on them every day. The purpose of animal testing, even though it's very harmful to the animals, is to guarantee that new products won't cause terrible side effects when they're put on the market for sale.
Do you think that animal testing is a necessary part to ensure that new products won't harm us? Or do you disagree, and believe that innocent animals shouldn't suffer for our benefit?
I, personally, don't believe in animal testing. I think that it's simply not right that innocent animals endure a long and painful death just so we can use a new type of soap or shampoo. The pictures from labratories where animal testing is in practice is just sickening. Although I can see the positive view of this, I choose to stand strongly against it and I think that people should be working on discovering alternatives to animal testing rather than torturing animals.
How 'bout you? =P

i think its unfair to the animals that products be tested on them for our benifits...and yes i agree that there should be other alternatives discovered for testing products rather than torture the innocent creatures just because we are the top most link in the food chain....

Exactly. I think there has to be another way to get these benefits (and perhaps even more) if scientists and experts focused on developing alternatives.
We are the top link in the food chain, but I don't think it gives us the right to *torture* the ones below us simply for our luxuries.

I have a mixed opinion on this one. While I don't believe in making animals suffer for our benefit, I also don't like the idea of what happens to them happen to people around the world.
However, after seeing their pictures after lab testing, I remember that animals aren't any less than us. Why should they have to endure such pain while we simply stand by and complain about not having enough products to use? Some stuff I've seen is just disgustingly cruel. They bleed from the eyes, their ears, they endure unimaginable pain before dying from loss of blood or some internal damage... it makes you wonder how people can do such a thing and then think of it as an advantage for mankind.
I think scientists should definitely find another alternative to animal testing as it's simply inhumane. At the same time though... what would happen to us if they hadn't? I really don't completely know how I feel about animal testing, but I do want it to end - for the animals sake.
