Could Someone Please Pry Me Away From The Computer..LOL

I pretty much stick to a fairly organized routine each day...I usually go out for awhile for some errand and basically just to get out of the apartment to get a breath of fresh air and not be cooped up all day. Then once I'm home take care of some cleaning chores I might have to do or make any kind of important phone calls that positively have to been done.
Then usually by 5:00 p.m. I settle in front on my computer and start doing some work..I stop around 7:00 only to eat some dinner, then by 7:30 back at the computer until..............whenever. I do try to pry myself off no later than 1:00 or 2:00 a.m., take my bath (yes at one or two in the morning) then plotz in front of the TV for awhile..but I often sometimes meander back to the computer every once in awhile to maybe get a few MORE things done in front of the computer before officially signing off and going to bed.
BUT then I have restless nights like this one. It's now 3:43 a.m. and I'm still sitting here pretty much in a zombie state. I know I should stop and start getting into my more relaxing state to sooner or later go to bed..but as of yet, I haven't done anymore of my routine things..the bath, TV watching, etc...I'M STILL SITTING HERE LIKE A JERK or is that idiot??...LOL I'm in one of those moods..you know..oh, I'll just answer one more email..or maybe one more discussion at MyLot, or answer one more response to one of my own discussions....OR ..as I'm doing now...typing this.
Okay just a question...how many of you sit like zombies in front of the computer like I'm doing now. You know you should get off and call it a day, but then decide to just sit...and sit...and sit like a moron? Are you sometimes a computer idiot..or just a plain idiot?
Now..maybe I'll actually pry myself away from here....uh...maybe

I've always been more of a night owl. I get some of my most "brilliant" creative ideas at night and early morning hours.

I think we all have times when we'd rather bask by the warm glow of the computer screen than do anything else, including go to bed. And sometimes it's just doing something mindless, like playing a gazillion rounds of solitaire (my personal downfall).

The solitaire I play is a freeware application I got years ago... this is the third computer I've had it on.

Hahahahaha, 'bask in the warm glow of the computer screen'! It does have a really nice warm glow doesn't it... especially late at night!
Scrabble with Professor Maven is my downfall... one game after another after another. By the time I finally get to bed I am thinking my thoughts as interconnected words on a scrabble board!

it is 2:24AM here..and i will zombie around for at least another hour. then i will make the attempt to lock up and turn off the household and wash my face, preparing for bed. ok..well the ATTEMPT of going to bed. inevitably i will read for a while, till about 4:30am or so.
IF i have managed to tire my brain out i will turn off the lights and go to sleep...but more often than not, i will quietly sneak back to the computer for about an hour lol! i TRY to not be on the computer when the rest of the house starts getting up for their early mornings. sometimes i manage it, sometimes i dont.
but you're right about that last couple of hours being spent as pretty much a zombie..with the sore rear end to go with it. doesnt matter what pillow i sit on in this old wooden chair! but butt still is the one to say "ok! thats enough we wont be able to walk tomorrow if you dont get off the computer!!"
LOL!

mib---you are sitting UP in a chair at a desk with a LAPTOP?! lol! if i had a laptop i would be on the couch or laying on the bed..which would probably lead to "asleep with face on keyboard"!!
LMAO! cat! Computer Butt! where is that website for invention patents?! this is gonna make millions!
who knew that a comfortable computer session required a "budunkadunk" (if thats how its spelled!)

Heehee...like that term.."computer butt" I kind of avoid that as I will often get up now and then just to walk around a bit..
Hey, that would be a great idea catdla1....designer CD clothing line....If you did that you could probably be a millionaire...LOL
I also kind of solved my problem though and avoid CB by the way I sit. My computer chair is just a hard wooden captain's chair, but I sit yoga style in it..you know crossed legged?...LOL..seems to help both back and butt

Well I'm a computer addict! I guess that pretty much explains everything.
I admit that I'm a computer zombie like what you are saying. I sit in front of my computer for almost the whole day. In short, it basically consume my life, time, and energy. But I love what I'm doing and I really like the fact that I'm learning a lot of things through this wonderful piece of device. So instead of doing illegal things offline, I rather spend my time doing some productive stuff online.

I've only had my own computer for over a year now..use to use the free usage at libraries for only an hour..but I'd be there every single day taking advantage of them. Now that I do have my own computer it's like a different world and lifestyle for me..and I often wonder..goodness how just DID I live my life before my computer??

Owning your own computer is a such a big deal. You'll easily get addicted especially when you have an internet connection. Unless your parents are strict, it's like a non-stop fun for you. My own computer is in my room right now and my mom is not really bothered whether I'll play and surf the internet the whole day. Owning a computer is a very effective time and energy-consuming if you don't know how to control yourself.

Oh yeah, I can relate (although I do turn my laptop off before bed and don't start as early).
Do you spend much of your time at myLot? 'Coz if you do, that'll explain why you're sitting almost glued to your pc. Answering emails, reading the news, surfing the Net in general shouldn't consume much of one's day, unless you do work requiring a computer. You're a member of an active community here, and I'm just guessing it's the opportunity to connect socially that's the culprit (plus, of course, you're earning). But whatever the reason, the answer to stopping it is simple - discipline.

I actually haven't been spending as much time here at MyLot as I used to as I really do a lot of work with my computer..like I said writing articles for websites and often have to do a lot of research for them

I am not taking you away from computer.
Lately I am very good and in my bed at no later tan 11:30...
It takes discipline and it is very hard, but I made it.
I made my own hypnosis tape and I programmed myself to sleep longer and before midnight.
What I want to say here, belated Happy Birthday....
I placed my mental note on 19, but it didn't work...
I wish you can achieve all of your dreams...

Aww-thanks ever pola..that was cute. Gee, 11:30 would be way too early for me. I don't think I went to bed that early even in my college days or as a kid. Still need to "program" myself to go to bed at least a tad earlier..don't ask what time I did eventually go to bed...or get up today..

Well, I hope you did eventually pry yourself away and get some sleep. I am so bad at this. I will look at the clock and before I know it I've only got a few hours left to sleep. Normally this is the worst for me on Saturday mornings. I can sit there for HOURS and find out it's time for dinner and I haven't even gotten out of my jammies yet! My husband doesn't understand how I can do that all day, but it's the same as him watching TV all day....

Hey my idiot, I mean pye my friend!lol! I can't fault you for
doing exactly what I do! There are nights or should I say
mornings when I do the same thing! I am up on the computer
looking at the clock and it is 4:00am and I am still here
mylotting. The next thing I know it is 6:00am and I am making
myself go to bed! So then I am going to sleep most of the day!
WTF! Are we vampires? I've always fancied their lifestyles!
I've kind of always considered myself one, except for the
blood drinking part! I just don't know what it is! I don't
seem to be able to go to sleep at night like normal people!
I will sometimes be falling asleep at the computer and I will
go off to bed only to end up right back at the computer again!
I did that last night. I tried to go to sleep, but within
about 10 minutes of lying in bed realizing that I wasn't going
to sleep got up and came back and turned on the computer again
and stayed up until I don't remember what time! If I knew you
were up we could have been talking! There are so many nights
that I look at the phone and wish there was someone that I
could talk to! I hate that I am up and alone! Well, not really!
Luna is constanly talking to me! As long as I'm sitting at
the computer, Luna has lots to say! Now that he has decided
that he likes jumping into my lap and helping me type he
really has more to say then ever. He thinks he's this really
tiny cat and he fits on my lap. Well he's not huge, but he's
not tiny! And he takes up more than my lap! So I have to keep
"fixing" him to get comfortable! So it's kind of nice to know
that you are up when I am, but we should IM or something so
that we could know that we are not up and doing these things
alone! It's not like I can "see" that you are online!lol

Heehee..yes, that's IT!!! We're vampires..
Yikes don't ask what time I finally did go to bed last night...uh, this morning??
I sometimes get mad at myself though for sleeping most of the day away though...don't ask what time I got up either today..sheesh. Thank goodness my two kitties are patient with me...in fact they sleep right alongside of me, and won't get up from my bed until they see me getting up..then it's feeding time for them...that's the first thing I do is feed them even before I fix my own breakfast. I'm hoping to end earlier tonight though and go to bed a bit earlier ..On a few occasions I would have to force myself to go to bed early to get up earlier...like the lovely times the electricians were rewiring the apartments...they started work....gasps around 7 in the morning..so I had to force myself to go to sleep no later than midnight to be up by 6 a.m...blah...so it's in me to do that...I guess I just have the attitude that if I don't have to, why should I?

I have done the zombie thing in front of the computer before, but that is mainly because I am trying to write a ton of articles and get some more money in so I can afford to purchase Christmas presents for my kids. I know I feel like an idiot at times when I see the discussions that are up and I answer them anyways, but then again I do like voicing my opinion.

My schedule is similar to yours except the other way around I get up in the morning around 4am get coffee, get my computer up and going and this where I sit until about 7 am. The the rest of my day is pretty much chores, shopping, taking care of business, some volunteering and socializing, then back on the computer until my 10pm bedtime.

I really don't turn my computer off, off..but put it in sleep mode...sometimes not always a good idea and beginning to think I really do need to shut it down completely. Don't ask how many times I've been startled awake by suddenly seeing a bright light go on....one of my angels must have walked on my computer desk, and maybe with their paw touched the keyboard or mouse and viola..the computer is on

I try to get too much done too in front of a computer as well. I might "officially" turn my computer at a certain time...but then sometimes while I watch a little TV before I go to bed, I get more "brainstorms" and turn the computer back on again..for just a "little" more work

This is very much my behavior: I got up, go to classes if I have got any, get home, put on computer, check mail and some other daily things, eat something, back to computer, every hour or something saying to myself I have to study, or clean the mess in my room or ... If I'm in a good day, I grab my books, study for half an hour, be happy again, convinced that I deserve some reward now and off to computer again!
And then another day, afternoon, night passed, leaving me thinking 'what the hell did actually do today?' Tomorrow will be better, no more computer before I did this or that...
Somehow, during exams, or almost reaching some deadline, Internet, especially Facebook and some forums I visit are sooo much more interesting compared to studying! Only way to study decently is going to the bib, without laptop or something to distract me! I'm pathetic, I know :-(
