get them teeth out!

yesterday i went to have my wisdom teeth removed. i was quite scared but i just told myself i had to get them out! when i got ther the anaethetist refused to put me to sleep as i had been chewing gum! i was told not to have anything to eat six hours before my operation was due to start but nobody mentioned chewing gum! have you ever been in this situation and how did you feel? happy mylotting

I can't see why the gum would be a problem unless the chewing it was going ot make your mouth too wet.

its because the coating has particles within it. the doctors say that if start being sick when under anaesthetic you may choke on theese particles. but there cant be many off one piece of gum, definately not enough for me to choke on! happy mylotting

i've never had surgery called off-but they probably did it because of possible sugar coating on the gum.it's a really small amount,but some would rather err on the side of caution.

surely the6y could have let me wait in the hospital until it was safe to have the surgey done. i will just have to wait until there is another free appointment. thanks for responding and happy mylotting
