Helium is a very competitive site, and it takes a lot of time and effort to do well there, but it has been useful to me for starting out as a freelance writer.
I've sold 10 articles so far in the marketplace at Helium. I was paid between $16 and $32 for each one. You do need to follow the publishers guidelines carefully, and there is no guarantee your article will be selected.
I have also posted more than a hundred articles at Helium, and these are earning money every day for me, in revenue share from page views. I get paid because I have earned some rating stars. I also qualify for an upfront payment for each new article I write, because I have gained some writing stars from the rating system.
Helium is not suitable for occasional writers, or for those who don't want to do any rating.

What kind of articles are you gonna write? The ones like in Helium? You have to have good quality in grammar etc. I never done it but I know it will give you lots of money. Other way is to review from ciao.
Oh and there's also a site to make article about cars I've seen in other forum, I need to look back to it though coz I dont remember.
One more thing is that you can write blogs. They will pay per post of your blog.
hope this info helps
