I'm rainsing this question because it has really been so long ago that I watched a movie, I mean gone to a moviehouse and be entertaikned by a film. I had been a movie goer in the past but because our new place now has not that much of a movie house, I just settled with the absence of such luxury.
But I think becaus eof the way our survival instincts stressed us out everyday, we need to unwind, relax and see a movie. What do you think? When was the last time you watch a movie in a moviehouse? Thanks for sharing!

In 1997/8, I think. Late 90's to be more accurate.
With all the DVDs nowadays, are theaters really worth going to anymore? My household has cable, and we can watch movies whenever we want via pay-per-view. Hardly anyone does it due to lack of time though. Even regular cable has good movies on some weekends.

Theaters really are worth going to anymore. I don't go that often but when I do it is totally enjoyable to see the big screen and hear the sound so well. So much better than a DVD or cable.

Thought about the screen size and the sound too, at first. But if one can have a big screen TV, and the ability to get surround sound, you pretty much have something that can rival theaters. (How LARGE does the screen have to be for one to enjoy the movie anyhow? If you can be picky, it really only matters in films with good cinematography)
Plus, you're in the comfort of your own home (or a friend's), and you can supply your own eats. What can beat that?

I think it's been two years since I've gone into a movie house. I miss watching movies. In fact, I'm persuading my mom for us to watch a movie again.. Godspeed

I have not been to a cinema for over two years. The last movie that I watched was Harry Potter film. I don't go to the cinema regularly as I prefer to watch movies on DVD.

Hi dear dear. first of all only watching movie in a movie house is not only the refreshment and relaxation thing. You can also watch movie in your house on your computer, dvd or television any way. i have been seen a movie KING KONG trice a week first time in my life and then War of the world in movie house near about 3 years ago. it mean i went to cinema totally 4 times in my life. Now i never feel that i should go to movie house for watching movie.
infect we have no time to watch movie in a movie house and other thing is that where there i am living have no movie house and we have no too much resources to go for watching movie to a movie house.
Have a nice day.
Take care

Going tonight to see Twilight. We don't go to the movies as often as we used to. It seems that now it ends up being about once every three to four months. Generally, just not that interested in what Hollywood is dishing out.

I went to the movies a little over a week ago to see "Role Models". It was pretty good and a nice way to relax with my boyfriend.

It became our family custom to watch a local comedy film series every 25th of December. It was about a human who took a fairy princess as his wife and started a family. Different adventures come in their way both from the Fairy world and here on earth. It was like Harry potter or some magical film mostly to entertain the kids. But since I was with my husband and twin daughters (then 7 yrs old), I enjoy the film year after year. So the last time I have watched was last Dec.25 2007. Probably my next will be on Dec. 25 of this year... if my office mates will fail to force me watch "Twilight" with them....
Let's see....

I agree with you that because of the stress of day to day living we definitely need time to relax and get away from it all.
I'm a movie hound and watch movies all the time on my T.V. I have cable with a couple of premium channels plus I have Netflix. Besides getting DVD's in the mail I can also watch T.V.'s online. It's been a couple of months since I've seen a movie at a theatre because they've gotten so expensive. I just stick to DVD's or cable.

it was ages ago.. you know, it's more practical to watch movies at home.. plus, it's more convenient too.. you don't need to pay much to watch your most awaited movies as video rental stores have compiled them for you.. i used to go to theatres before but now that i have my own pad, i've learned how to prioritize things..

As I was reading your discussion, I was trying to remember the most recent time I went to the movies. I think it was when I went to see "The Hunt for Red October". That was in 1990. I don't go to movies any more for a number of reasons, they cost too much, you can get them of DVD within a year, if not sooner, and most of them a ridiculous. I'm not going to pay what it cost to see something so stupid as what Hollywood puts out. I know there are exceptions, but not many and as I said, they're out on DVD in no time.

Oh,about six years ago,it's really a long time,when I studied in a university.
My work is in an automobile component company, which is in a mountain city.
The nearest moviehouse is 20 kilometres far away from where I work, that's really too far for me,so I prefer to see a moive on my computer.
So,friends,how about you?
Happy posting!Nice day!

I don't go that often, but it is something that my sorority group does every few months as a social. We just went 2 days ago and saw "The Secret of the Bees", which was very good. We usually pick a chick flick and just go on our regular meeting night and then go for dinner or dessert afterwards. This time we all went to the movies but just 3 of the 7 of us went to dinner. It was amusing since it was commented that we were the only ones who could stay up late enough for dinner. It was only 9pm!! I also got in as a senior and I am not a senior, yet, but when he asked if I was the same as the 2 ahead of me, I said yes to save $3. Was that wrong?

I took my daughter to a movie she wanted to see, but now I cannot remember the name of it. Must have been that good -(joke). We have a couple of really nice theatres near us, but rarely have the time to go!Plus, it's so expensive to go, I'd rather stay home and watch a movie on my TV!

I think the last time I went and seen a movie was about 8 mos. ago. We went on a weekend vacation for our anniversary, and I talked my husband into going and seeing a movie, which is something he doesn't really like to do, he'd rather wait till it came out on video. I enjoyed it, and I think he did actually, but that was the last time we've gone.

Actually I prefer relaxing with a book, sometimes whatever comes to hand. If the author is good, I can savor the words and let my imagination roam. I do watch movies of historical figures and events when they are available, but I find the movies generally too limited, too narrow. I find my imagination more expansive, more productive and fertile. Depending on who among the characters I favor, I can endow my heroes and heroines with nobler qualities of deed and character than they may have originally possessed hahahah...
If I'm not relaxing with a book, I putter around the house planting a native herb or two - organic - and enjoy seeing these things grow and compete for a niche under the sun, what with three of my neighbor's dogs just loving to lie on the patch I have cleaned for my herbs. It's exasperating, but the dogs guard the house when I'm not around, so I guess it's a good trade-off.
I occasionally go to the public market, most likely NOT to buy anything but to discover what fruits and vegetables are being sold and in season and to observe the dynamics among people and among buyers and sellers.
