whats your plan with the long christmas week vacation from december 24 to january 2, 2009., that's about 11 days off from work, including saturdays and sundays. will you bring your family to an out of town vacation? perhaps, it would be a good chance to go home to your own province and spend more time with your family. how about you?

December is still a long way away for me and I cannot think about the holidays. I am planning to plant sweet corn and there is a lot of things that still need to be done before I can start that. If I plant in December then I will harvest in February. Cheers!!

actually start of holiday here in the philippines will be on dec. 25 yet, but as usually happens before, the president will declare most probably a half day holiday on the 24th, to give ample time for those workers who will still be going home to their respective provinces. if you still remember, GMA declares a half day holiday last Oct. 31, so chances are, it would be the same, hopefully on the 24th.

Wow, that is so cool that you get so much time off for the holidays. Is that a paid vacation, or your company just has a plant shut down or something?
When you work for yourself, or you work in retail, you don't really get that much time off of work for the holidays. So you must be very grateful. I remember over 10 years ago when I worked for a company that would not only close a week or so around the holidays, but they would also give us a Christmas bonus. It was usually worth about two weeks of pay or more. That was really nice.
I am glad you started this discussion. I have been trying to figure out what I am going to do for the holidays. I was thinking about going home to see my mother for Christmas, plus my birthday is New Year's Eve and I haven't been around more than one or two people on that day in a long time.
I may just end up going down town where I am staying now. They have a big celebration at one of their plazas, and have big screen tvs with Time Square and the Big Apple televised.
I would love to go to New York City, but this looks like it's going to be a cold winter so I don't think I'll head that far north.
Thanks for starting this discussion, and have a great day!

Going somewhere is out of the question for me since it is our tradition to spend Christmas and New Year to our family house so definitely we will have family reunion again. As for the long vacation, I want to spend it relaxing and relieving off the stress I acquired throughout the year and this gives me ample time to re-organize our house and finish my projects.
