ABC gave the cancellation notice to “Pushing Daisies” yesterday reports the LA Times. The series will not be picked up for a full second season and will end production after their thirteenth episodes. ABC president Steve McPherson informed the series of its fate in a phone call yesterday.
“He was very complimentary and thanked everyone for putting their first foot forward,” “Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller said. “He never said we’re canceled but that was the gist of it. He said they’re proud of the show and not ordering episodes at this time. I could read between the lines and interpret that the door could be open in the future but I think that the gist of that is that we weren’t going to be moving forward on ABC.” ABC plans to run all the produced episodes of the series before bringing it to an end. Fuller acknowledge that everyone who worked on the show will begin looking for new jobs, which would make it hard for the “door to stay open.” He already has his next gig lined up: returning to “Heroes,” where he worked as a writer in the NBC show’s first season. He also has begun thinking about turning his sweet fairy tale into a movie.
“It’s hard not to be disappointed but I’m walking away with a stronger feeling of pride and gratitude,” Fuller said.

Wtf. This angers me because this is a great show. I can't believe this. There is so much garbage on TV and when an original show turns up everybody looks the other way. Sad. I thought they really had something here. I think the writer's strike had a lot to do with it, though. A lot of shows had fewer viewers after the strike was over and the shows resumed. Still, I can't believe this. TV has gone to crap.

that's a shame - it's a sweet show. Good that they actually broadcasting it all though - some quirky programmes that've been cancelled in the past didn't even get beyond one series and the first chance people got to watch every episode made was on dvd.

I don't watch the show, but just from being on mylot I can tell it will have a lot of fans upset over the cancellation. ABC also canceled Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money. I don't watch either of those either, but I think a lot of people on mylot really liked Eli Stone. I think ABC needed to give their shows some time. Almost every network's shows have ratings down from last year.

Hey, I've missed you!
Yeah, the ratings went down drastically. The writers ended up screwing themselves I think. If ABC had done more episodes after the strike like CBS and a few others, I don't think they would be struggling so much now. At least that is what the people in TV world think caused the problem.
And yes, you should be dancing for quite some time.

I liked "Pushing Daisies". It was a nice break from all of the reality shows and Law & Order/CSI crap. I think a lot of new shows are getting canceled to make room for reality shows. I dunno, maybe if people petition it they'll bring it back. It worked for Family Guy and 7th Heaven.
