So much to do, so little time!!! Is anyone else overwhelmed?

First of all, I want to apologize to those whose replies I haven't gotten back to yet. There are so many!!! I'll get to them, I promise!
I just realized how much I actually do every day and how much more there is to do! It's not just the holidays (of course, they make it more hectic) but in normal, everyday life. There really is a lot of stuff to do!
I'm not a clean freak, but I like a clean home. Living in the country makes for a lot of spider webs, leaves brought in by the animals, pollen and dust, etc.
I clean, then come here to relax and rest, then clean some more. It's neverending!
Do you feel like your work is never done? Do you sit back and feel good about a task you've completed only to turn around and see a dozen more yet to do?
It's neverending, isn't it?

Becoming overwhelmed is a problem for me. I find that the more I feel there is too much to do the less energy I seem to have.
For me the answer [well, a big part of the answer anyhow] is using a timer!! I will set the timer for a specific amount of time and work at a task for that length of time then set it aside and go on to the next. Work sessions of 15 minutes do best for me. I will set the timer and work in my kitchen, knowing I will only be in there for 15 minutes does a couple of things for me. First I know I am not going to be in there for hours frees me from the overwhelmed feeling, and it also causes me to do the most important jobs first. If I alternate work sessions and 'pleasure' sessions it works really well for me. Pleasure sessions are reading, or hobby time, again getting lots done in short spurts.
A benefit of working in this way is realizing that most household chores really only take a few minutes. I may not clean/straighten all of the kitchen cupboards in one session but I can do some. So the next time I do a few others.
This has worked so well for me that I have timers in almost every room of the house!

Don't sweat the small stuff my dear friend. If you don't get to answer all your replys, we'll still all love you. When myLot becomes stressful it's no longer fun and we can't have any of that. hehehe.

After accumulating 400+ email notifications of my friends' discussions from myLot, I finally went to the last page, randomly chose 2 with my eyes closed, and replied. Then I deleted the rest. Went to the previous page, did the same thing. If I didn't do that, I couldn't possibly ever have a mailbox with less than 400 emails in it!!!
I know what you mean about housecleaning, too. I cleaned my house last weekend, not as well as I would've liked, but it was nice. By Wednesday, it looked like a tornado hit it and today I came home to find my dogs had been rooting in the trash can in my bedroom for some reason! Nothing shredded or anything, just pawed through and investigated. How could I be angry with them?!
Yes, it's neverending. I remember feeling that way when I was married with children, did the same things day after day and never caught up. I miss my kids horribly (they're coming at Christmas season!) but they're all grown up and I enjoy what I have now.
I just wish I had a self-cleaning house!!

yes it is really bad here too, I live in the big city and there is noise pollution and pollution from the buses and cars that come down my street and the dust never seem to eat. It is amazing.

Oh i know that feeling as i have three kids so the work never ends. You clean one room and the kids mess up another. Youre work is never done lol.

Well, if you weren't so prolific in your discussions maybe you wouldn't have so many to answer. As for my response to your question: My home is my paradise (for procrastination). At that I am a champion.

Right now, I'm a bum, so rather than feeling overwhelmed, I am actually always bored with my day. I do find things to do like go to the gym and make some money online, but I want something better and more productive. I guess people are never content; like if I'm overworked, I'll complain. But when I have nothing to do, I also complain.
