How many of you have budgets?

Im a student with a very low income so a budget is vital for me to keep my expenses in check but I have found that Im in the minority? How many of you guys have budgets and how well are they going for you? Why do you personally budget?

My family is on a budget, its going alright but right now we are out of money and I have to pay for a cap and gown by next week or else i cant walk (they dont have loaners and so you have to buy it and it pisses me off!!)
We budget because we are low income.

is that a cap and gown for uni? You should be able to get them second hand or work out a payment plan with the uni? Most organisations are pretty happy to help out if you ask for help...
