If you saw a job posting that you knew you weren't quite qualified for but were sure you could "grow" into the position would you take the chance and apply for it? Or would you pass it by for fear you would be getting in over your head?

I always do. If you get the interview, you have a chance to wow them and explain why you think you are a good fit. And if not, oh well. Personally, I tend to not even get the interviews, although I did get one for this one job I am not sure about. Still waiting to hear back from them. I'm okay with not getting it.

I guess it's better to submit the application. If I don't then I will never know.

it depends how specific they are, if they requires such and such or must have....and you dont have what they specify then I think you would be wasting their time. It doesn't matter if you think you can do it, they obviously have certain requirements they want

Very true, this particular job description does not have any mention of must have or needs to have. It simply states to specific tasks you will complete.

Yes, this is so true. If I don't apply I won't get surprised.

If you know that you could do the job, I would apply. The worst that will happen is that you won't get it. It doesn't hurt to try.

Yup, just dont expect to get the job. Think of it this way. If you really want to work for the company and want the job, apply for it. The company will now have a record of your application. When you have more training, and upgraded skills, and are now qualified or almost there re-apply for the job. The company will see that you have been working hard to develop yourself and become the best person for the job. You will also show that you really want the job. It should impress enough.
