How did you meet your special someone?

I learned about "e-mail" only in the year 2000. That was June and I just graduated from Highschool. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enroll to College so I stayed home. My batchmate and soon became my friend, always called and visited me at home. Soon I got tired of seeing him so I asked him if he has somebody else to introduce.
The next day, he gave me an email address.. What will I do with that? I asked. Luckily, my brother's friend set up EDSAMAIL (are you familiar with that?) I'm not. Anyway, it can send email even if you don't have internet connection. All you need was a phone line and of course, a computer. It was free.
I emailed this guy that my friend referred. I asked if we can be friends or email buddies.. whatever... The next day, I received a response. He said it's okay. {It ain't a bad thing making new friends, he said} That afternoon I received a phone call. It was him! My knees were shaking... Since then we became phone pals, email buddies... After a week of emailing, he started courting me. After a month, we became a couple.. Wow.. too fast?
We're still together after 8 years.. We already have a daughter and she's 18 months old. By the way, it's my birthday today.. (Do I really need to include that?)

That sounds fun! hehe and before I forget Happy birthday!!! I met my husband through internet also. It was unexpected since I wasn't really looking for someone through internet also "foreigner". It was just a boring day because I was waiting for my other friends to log on so that we could start our conference chats in yahoo messenger. While waiting I decided to join to yahoo chat rooms and it is where I found him. We became friends for 3months and we continue communicating through chats everyday and love blooms between us. It took 2 years for us to meet in person. He flew from US to Phils. After 3 years since the day we met in the chatroom, I flew here in the US and now we are happily married together.

Wow, jstmarfz.. Thanks for the greeting. I think I should'nt have posted that. It's like I'm raking attention here. LoL
Anyway, you started out as online dating, right? I remember before internet, penpal is the popular one. I'm glad that you're happily married.. Doesn't different culture made it hard to understand each other? I have a friend who had an American boyfriend and she told me that it was hard settling their culture differences. Anyway, I think it was really her who's hard to settle with. haha! congrats again! Regards to your hubby! ^^v

I'm glad that your hubby is the same. ^^v I think I would love him too.. I mean.. don't take it the wrong way, haha!

Hello babyfuzz. Well I told you about my story but I still want to reply for the sake of this discussion lol! I met my husband through online dating sites. Actually, I am the first one who sent interest to him eventhough his profile didn't have pic yet and so the other day I received a mail from him. I don't know why I even sent him an interest. You know sometimes, I believe that there's really a person who is meant for you. Sometimes I can't believe that we are really married now. It seems like a dream and I do think it's impossible sometimes. We are million miles away and seems like our meeting is impossible but it's possible. Maybe even without internet, there is really other way we can meet because I do believe we are meant for each other.
In your question on how we meet. Actually we just met last july. It's our first meeting and I am really hesitant if he is really coming although he gave me his itinerary for me to know his schedule. My sister and I are waiting in the arrival area of Davao Airport. The passengers are coming out and during that time, there are many Americans. I am nervous and really shaking. He is my first boyfriend. I never had a chance to have a relationship with a filipino. I am afraid I might not recognize him because Americans sometimes have the same features. Then suddenly, I saw a tall handsome white man came out. I know it was him. He looked nervous too. I saw him first and when our eyes met. Bang! It's magic. I know he felt relieved when he saw me. He then hugged me in front of many people and honestly, I am not used to be hug especially by a man so I'm not comfortable although I like the feeling. And on the same day, we then fly to Cebu together and went to the Consular office for us to get a certificate of legal capacity to marry because we are already engaged and got married last july 28.
Well I think I am talking too much. This discussion is really great babyfuzz. I can really relate to it.

Hi, aisa.. Well you should answer because I started this discussion partly because of you.. haha!
Wow, yeah.. You know the song, "You were just a dream that I once knew, Never thought I would be right for you, I just can't compare you with anything in this world, You're all I need to be with forevermore...I just can't believe that you are mine now.." I think that's a perfect song for you, too. I mean, that was the song I dedicated to him when I answered him, haha!
He's also my first boyfriend, well, technically, I think.. The one I told you about the guy who migrated in Florida wasn't really my boyfriend. We were super close before but we didn't really had the chance to be "lovers"..
Your story is great.. Though I'm skeptical about long distance relationships. Anyway, at least he visited you here and is planning to bring you with him.. aw.. how sweet.. How does LDR (long distance relationship) work? I can't imagine myself being away from him even for 10 minutes.. (exaggerated!) Well, yeah.. I really can't.
Yeah, we think that Americans have the same features, that's how they look at us Asians too. We all look the same..
How old is he, by the way? Doesn't culture make it hard for the both of you? Aw... Your story is like a movie.. I could've watched it. lol

Hello, blondie..
Yes, the internet connects a lot of people no matter what the distance is. Communication is the key - in this case, telecommunication.. I've found my special someone much like the internet. Like I said, we started knowing each other through email and phone chatting. It was really amazing, don't you think? I'm glad you're still going strong.. ^^v

There's always a lot of interesting ways of knowing a lifetime (if that's the case may be) partner or a boy/girlfriend and yours is one of it. There are also people who started through internet conversation out of nowhere and ends up together. I also started from referral system, started regular communications and even ended up having a relationship through continents apart and she became my girlfriend for almost 2 years now. There are a lot on unconventional ways of having a partner in life and the important things that needs to deal with is trust, believe on each other, open communication, respect each other, giving each other a space and that is aside from the love you have shared.

haha! You came back!! Okaerinasai!!! (Welcome back)
You sound very serious as always, dear sirrob.. What can I say? I agree with that. It's not only about love. I learned that the hard way, believe me. Trust was our very first issue when we first fought. I have a very different perspective about trust, respect, and being open. Blame my upbringing.. lol
Hey, make your story longer, okay? Share some more! I love details! ^^v

My internet connection was down, I think.. I already replied to you, but then it didn't post. Oh, well..
Yeah, you sounded very serious.. Wow! You've won a website? What kind of contest? When was that? I forgot the URL of your blog. Send it to me again, okay? I will have to visit your site, and then visit mine too! haha! I signed up a blogger (blogspot) account too.. haha!
So, I would have to wait for your website to be up then, before I know the story of your lovelife.. Oh, well, as ever, my dear sirrob is being mysterious again.

Genki desu.!! Am I? I was just trying to say something or respond from your discussion and never thought that I sounds serious about it. Anyway, I would be making my story in my blog when things get fine with my new website which I won from a contest. I am still trying to figure out the way around there which I am still having a hard time. I am also trying to update my blogger site, you know the "humble opinion by sirrob", I am just out of the loop for 2 days so there's a lot to catch up in my inbox.
SO what's up with your different horizon about trust, respect and all those stuff?

first off let me congratulate you on sucha wonderful meeting, experience of such a great invention( the e-mail), and on your daughter. I met this girl in my last year of high school, and we kicked it off pretty good. We talked about everything, and haha sometimes everyone. We just could not be broke up. There was more than one person who tried to get in my way, and wanted my prize, my love. But we were insepearable. Even so, it is like a romeo and juliet scene, her parents dont like me, but we still see each other, We take every moment to see each other, talk to each other, whatever it takes. We aren't married or anything like your story. But, maybe one day, we protect each other, we guide each other, and we look after each other.

Wow, bow and arrow! That's cool. I don't know anybody who uses that kind of thing. Maybe it's not popular here in our country. Funny, it just came to me, you said you want to protect each other.. does that mean protecting her or yourself from his hunter dad? haha! ^^

Hi, luvandpower.. (I dig your name) ^^
Thanks for the heartfelt greeting.. Yes, internet is a great invention. It made our world smaller.
I think it was really lovely how you fell in love with each other. We are also inseparable. We already have broken up countless times, but we still find each other. We also love talking about anything, and until now, even we're living under one roof, we can get enough of each other. I think that's chemistry, and that's what you and girl have too!
No, we're not married yet. You don't need to get married just to show how much you love each other, protect, guide or look after each other. My parents also don't like him, but I didn't care. ^^v

I have a friend who started out as enemies and soon got developed.. I really love sharing this story that's why I came up with this topic. I also wanna hear the "love stories" of others. I think it's amazing how people fall in love.
Can I make a little suggestion? It's kinda hard reading your post. Can you check out your punctuation marks and spellings? Text speaking is also not allowed. Thanks and happy mylotting! ^^v

I actually met my partner when we were in middle school. Almost all of the elementary schools in the county had to come to the middle school I was sent too and we met there. We had the same homeroom together. We became friends and talked to some of her other friends and slowly over the course of a few years we became closer. Eventually, we pretty much stopped talking to a few of the friends and ended up dating in highschool. We have been together since.

I remember when boyfriend also dragged me to the same 'institute' he's going. I have to go there although I'm not interested. We were studying about computers, and I'm not really into computers before. I love performing arts.. He's a programmer. I regret not having to complete my units.. ^^

How old are your twins now? Girls, boys or boy and girl? I'm amazed with twins. My mother has a twin sister too. But still it hasn't sunk in to me that they're really twins..

Hello Babyfuzz... let's pretend I read this and replied four days ago. Happy Birthday!!! Hope you're having a marvelous time with your husband and your baby girl.
I met Boyfriend at a former job. He was my least favorite manager (because he always chose me to do other tasks) and that time, I was still in a long distance relationship. I think it was about 6 months later that my ex and I broke up, I became a manager too and started spending time with him and found out he thought I was one who gets bored if I was doing the same things over and over again (he's partly right) and that is why I felt he was picking on me. Then I just started looking forward to going to work and had a much greater day if I saw and talked to him. Mutual friends invited us to a dinner party, we ended up talking about watching movies together, went on our first date and that was that. Five years and almost 10 months later, I am still giddily in love with this man.

Wow, SaintAnne! That's a cute way of describing how you feel - giddily in love with your man! I think that Long Distance Relationship is really hard. I can't imagine boyfriend being away from me.
Haha! You get bored easily. I think he knew and liked you even before you knew it. Your story is like one of the movie I've seen. ^^

First off congratulations on your birthday!
I played a game in 2002 called CokeMusic aka Coke Studios. It was part of the Coca-Cola company. Don't really mind searching for it because they unfortunately shut down a year ago. Anyway, it was a type of game like Habbo Hotel.
I started to play that game in July 2002 and I met this girl in December the same year. We talked and quickly became great friends. She used to help me design my rooms as I never really had any idea's. We also used to work together and help people out all the time. A few months later I got a girlfriend, which wasn't her. Although we still kept being friends. She also had a boyfriend near that time.
After my relationship ended near 2005-2006, I lost contact with this girl. I still thought of her often because she was a great part of my life. All of a sudden near end of spring 2006 I joined a forum of a record label and some girl private messaged me and asked me if I was that person from long time ago. Turned out that was the girl I missed for a long time!
We talked a lot and became better friends and we're in love since 07-07-2007, can't forget that date!

Well, maybe you're soul mates?! Heck.. I'm naming again. No matter what it's called, it's still amazing, don't you think? I think I love both of you, too! haha! Congratulations! Say my regards to her! ^^v

I'm already late on the happy birthday, so I'll just say happy belated birthday. How me and my now hubby met well we talked through a chat line that was set up for single people to meet other people and truelly I was only looking for friends and nothing more. He sent me a message and we begin to talk through phone. We saw that we had a lot in common so we would continue to talk. Sometimes we would stay up till 5 ocklock in the morning talking about anything and everything under the sun (We still do till this day).So after talking for a while (we did not live near by, he was six hours away from were I lived) so he came and visited me after 1 month and he continued to visit me, unlike other guys that I had met in long distance relationships. It was if he truely liked me. So our relationship had progressed to dating. After 6 months I moved out to were he stayed. Because I just knew that it was something about it him was the reason that I was falling in love with him. Now we have been together for almost 4 years and we just got married on April 5th of this year. You know how people say when people ask how do you know that he was the one. Well like everyone says sometimes you just know. I think he knew before me and it took me some time before I knew that he was the one for me as well. We don't have any kids yet, but he has his two boys and we are planning to have a little girl of our own some day. But right now we are just taking one day at a time.

Hi, trisha! ^^ Your story made my hair stand! We also used to talk on the phone more than 5 hours. I had to creep under the table so that my parents wouldn't know I was using the phone. They had me grounded since I spent to much time on the phone. lol
Yes, I think you just know it. You cannot describe the feeling. It's what they say, soul mates, I guess. Being together and still not getting tired of talking about anything, maybe that's chemistry. I always ask boyfriend why we're still together. He couldn't give me a straight answer, because he is also clueless. I don't really believe in destiny but that's a good reason why people connect.
Anyway, i think it's still about choosing whom you want to love and spend the rest of your life with. I'm glad you have found your "the One". I agree with you, take each day at a time. Good luck and congratulations on your wedding! ^^

Hi, gracie!! Thanks for the greeting. I'm sorry I haven't replied earlier. I wasn't able to connect to the internet properly the last few days.
Your story and mine are almost the same, don't you think? Congratulations for being and getting stronger. When we had fights, I thought we were over. But look at us, we're still together, although friends and families were skeptical about us. ^^

Your story is so nice. Got your special someone online.
Well, I just got married last January. My husband and I were boyfriend and girlfriend for more than a year. We met through a his close friend who was his classmate from elementary to high school. I met this guy through MIRC chat. Internet, in a way, had also something to do with us too.

Hi, maroseqf.. ^^v
I was also into mIRC before, and I knew about it because of my boyfriend. Love has a funny way of connecting people, don't you think? Congratulations on your wedding! Do you have a kid already, or is planning to have one?
I'm sorry my response came late. Our internet connection was fuzzy the last few days. Thanks for your time. I hope you'll share more details how you first met eye to eye. ^^
