Would you sell your hair?

Okay, so the title is misleading, but... Uh... I've forgotten who told me about it, but I heard that certain M Lhuillier pawnshops were buying hair from ten inches up. And I was wondering if it was true. Is there really a means to sell your hair here? And if so, do you know how? Oh, okay. So, to make the title relevant: suppose there really is a way to earn money selling hair, would you do it? If the 10in-up rule was required, how much of your hair will you be willing to cut off for it? (will you be creeped out by the fact that someone out there could probably be wearing your hair?) Uh, yeah. So: do you know if you can sell your hair here? Creep-factor aside, would you do it?

As a bit of a side note, they used to use human hair to make the seats of chairs. Think wicker chair, but instead of the wicker they used human hair. Apparently it is very strong. I have been thinking about growing my hair out, and by the time I figgure out how to build the chair, I will be able to put a seat on it.

I used to have hair down to my waist. I wanted to cut it because I was getting tired of the maintenance. My hairdresser suggested I donate it to Locks of Love, which is an organization that provides real hair wigs to children with illnesses who have no hair. Not just the result of chemo, but long-term. They require at least 10 or 12 inches, I can't remember. My hairdresser measured and cut off 14 inches. It was not creepy at all. In fact, it feels good to know that I have helped a child. I would do it again if I had the patience to grow my hair long enough. I would not sell my hair. I would donate it again, though. Knowing there are children who need it and that I can help at no cost to myself, other than about a dollar of postage, I will donate it because that can do more good for someone than any meager monetary donation I could make to charity.

while one of my favourite christmas stories was the O Henry one where the girl sold her hair to buy a watch chain for her hubby and the man sold his watch to buy combs for her hair, i wouldnt sell my hair. my daughter (11), however, grew her hair long enough to donate to kids that have lost their hair due to cancer (they make wigs out of hair for these kids.)

There's nothing wrong in selling your hair if it's really long enough. In one way or another you will be helping others to have a new "CROWNING GLORY". Who knows the one who will be wearing your hair as a wig is a "cancer patient" who's trying to live a normal life. I have heard of many companies buying hairs, but I am surprised that a pawnshop is also doing it? I know of one in Legazpi City, the name of the company is "BICOL HAIR" they make wigs, falls eye lashes and many others from human hair. I guess, it's better to see your hair being used by others than of seeing your hair just being drained down the "pit" or being burnt in a damp site.

Well I don't really know if you can sell your hair there. But I do know that you can sell your hair at some places. Im not sure how the procedure would definitely go. But im sure they will check your hair to see if it has any flaws. But if your hair is strong and in excellent condition they'll probably buy it from you. wow selling your hair. crazy. but I guess you would be helping out other ppl. who are in need of hair. So your actually doing a good deed. But I don't think I would sell my hair because I cant . im temporary bald in the back middle of my head. lol.

I wouldn't mind selling my hair, as long as they are willing to buy it hehe. I can always grow my hair back anyway. It can help those who are in dire need of cash and have hair long and decent enough to sell for wigs. But from what I know, its usually the parlors who buys hair not pawnshops. I wonder how they declare the value of a persons hair? per feet/ inch? or by the quality?

If someone wanted to wear my hair that's their problem. However if it was used for something good like making wigs for patients who'd gone through chemo then I'd be more than happy to donate my hair. But if a dodgy pawn shop wanted to sell it to make hair extensionsor something well yeah I'd accept money for it. As long as I did already have plans to cut my hair.

I dont care if someone wearing my hair. I have heard that one can donate her hair to a foundation that cares for cancer aptients. It will be some kind of a legacy. You could help those cancer patients look good atleat during the last part of their lives.

I thought only salons buy hair to be made into wigs... and they don't just buy any hair... it should be the beautiful kind without split ends and does not easily break... this is the first time i heard about this pawnshop buying hair... if ever they do... i don't think they will buy my hair because it has a lot of split ends...

Well, if I cut it off, I might as well earn from it than just get it disposed of. I have grown my hair over ten inches before so if I could earn from that long, I might as well just cut off that much so that I could still grow another ten after a couple of years without really shortening the length of my hair. (^_^ ) Before, mostly women, would indeed go and sell their long hair. There is even one story wherein this couple that loved each other so much were undergoing hard times yet, they still wanted to surprise each other on their anniversary by giving a present without the other one knowing. The guy sold his pocket watch so that he could buy his wife an intricate comb while his wife sold her hair to buy this gold chain which would look nice with her husband's pocket watch. Though hair would commonly be used as wigs for those who'd want to, there are other usage for hair. I don't really know but I've heard that somewhere, they would weave hair and turn them into clothes. Then hair could also be used as strainers. Well, that's just what I have heard..

If my hair is that long why not. To make it useful. LOL. But, I would rather donate my hair to those cancer patient than selling my hair. Donating my hair is a good benefits and great help to those cancer patient.
