pictures in posts

Okay....so I'm kind of dumb but I can't figure out how to add pictures to posts. I see where to add them when I start a discussion, I see where to add them to an interest group but when I respond to a discussion I can't add a picture. At least not right off. Since I've not reached 200, I can't use emoticons in my posts but if I stick one in anyway it will kick me back to the post and then I get a form for adding a picture with description and tags and all that. But what happens when I reach 200 and can use emoticons? Will that form show up automatically after I hit 200?
