Canadian Winters

I live in southern Ontario where it snows each winter. Some winters are worse than others. Some winters start early in the fall, while others start later. This year we actually had a light snowfall in October, but we received a very heavy snowfall...which stayed on the 15th of November. It was the kind of snow that was wet and heavy and clung to the trees, and wires hanging all over. It arrived quickly, and fell steadily, making the roads slippery and dangerous, breaking tree limbs, and weighing down hydro wires so that the hydro went off in many areas. People had to scramble to find their winter boots, and clothes, search for snow scrapers and brushes so they could clean off their cars, and locate shovels to clean up sidewalks and driveways. This is the beginning of our winter season, and the start of many long, cold winter days and nights. While I do not enjoy the driving in the winter season's, and the slippery roads, cold temperatures and having to put on all of the winter clothes, I must admit I do enjoy the beauty of the winter and how great the snow looks after a fresh snowfall. There was a time when I enjoyed some winter sports as well, but not anymore.
Where do you live? Do you get snow in the winter? What do you like about your winter seasons?

I'm in the same place you are, literally. I think my favourite part of winter is the fact that my husband can't go golfing whenever he wants. Though having him home and bored isn't always a good thing either.
I love seeing the freshly fallen snow before the kids attack it and leave tracks everywhere and build their snowmen and forts. I don't like the fact the teenagers feel the need to walk down the middle of the road because they don't like to wear boots in winter. There should be no excuse now since the Town is plowing all sidewalks. But then, I think they walk down the middle of the road all the time.

I hate winter, it makes me miserable, my bones ache more than usual and I am sick all the time. It doesn't help that this flat is cold, I have to get out of here.

Here in Guelph Ontario we got our stay-on-the-ground snowfall about three days after you did, but it looks like the damned stuff is here to stay. My huband is from Sedona Arizona, and when he flew out of Phoenix on Nov 1st it was 93 F, and now he's in cold cold Canada. Poor guy! :)

I am in Alberta here. We do get quite the snow fall and have had a dump of snow already. But we get lucky here and we get chinooks. I know that you get much more snow than we do but we have had some big snowfalls and our winds can get quite cold too. I really like it when the snow falls on a nice winter night.
