Have you ever had a zombie day?

There is disorientation, and often a vague sense of dread.
Nothing much seems to go alright, and even those things that seem to go well, appear to have gone not so well.
Other people cannot get it right, and me worse.
It seems like a good idea to pull the duvet over one's head and drop out of the day.
But rarely is the luxury available because as Robert Frost put it, ".. miles to go before I sleep."
So I shrug off the zombie and try to get as much or as little done as I can get away with.
Fortunately I do not have too many of this kind of day.
Cheers.

I have empathy for that! In your place I'd say "better on a saturday than a monday."
Trust you will be back in fine fettle after a bit of rest.
Cheers.

Exactly. The vague sense of dread comes from thinking that you are supposed to do something but you cannot remember what. I never used to have them at all a few years ago but it is one of the symptoms of my chronic fatigue syndrome and I seem to have them too often these days.
I have to work extra hard to get my concentration going and I just get frustrated with myself when its particularly bad like today.

I experience that kind of situation when I have not enough rest or has been in front of the computer too long. Can't think of anything and feeling the body weak and no mood at all. After diverting my attention to something else and come back later, I am energized and ready to go again here.

I do have days like that but I really can't afford to have off days. I need to be on all the time. I have an internship where they expect you to be on and functioning at all times so it's bad when I wake up and have one of those days where my mind doesn't want to work and where I just don't want to do anything.

Ah it is tough having this problem if you cannot afford off days. But then everyone has off days sometimes not matter how healthy you are. I have an excuse for my days because I am ill. But I do remember when I was working how hard it was when I had a bad night.

I have way too many of those sorts of days. Sometimes I just can't focus or concentrate on anything. I think it seems to happen when I have too much to do and I can't decide where to start. I get overwhelmed ...or something. Lack of sleep doesn't help things any. Get a good nights sleep and I'm sure tomorrow will be better for you.

Oh man. I do not think a single person has not gone through something like this. I experienced this a lot in middle and high school mostly, and even in some college classes sometimes. .for me though, it is usually because of the lack of sleep, but at night I find it hard to go to sleep since I'm kind of addicted to the internet. . .and mylot also, along with other social networks such as Myspace and facebook.

I never had it in high school but I think you can get it when you are young if you do not get enough sleep. You need at least 8 hours sleep. It is much harder when you do go to bed but cannot sleep. Insomnia or broken sleep is really bad.
I know the addiction thing but sleep is more important. Maybe try and rearrange something else so you get time on the internet and your sleep.

Not quite had one of those sharra, but after the week I have had I reckon I'm not that far off it at the moment! My brain is working just fine though and I am just drained more than anything else. At least the weekend here in Egypt starts from tomorrow so I have a chance to recuperate before it all kicks off again from next Sunday...... Maybe you should take that crazy dog for a walk? It seems the Boss has some uplifitng moments every time HE does it so this may be just what the Doctor ordered!

He would just laugh. Not sure about the dog. I have managed to catch the dog by surprise once or twice and when I do that just saying boo is enough. It is hilarious to see a dog caught by surprise, they jump.
I like to play hide and seek with the dog but it only works at feeding time as the rest of the day he does not care. Still he provides me with entertainment and that is a good thing.

If I had started this discussion I think that I might have called it: "Have you ever had a non-zombie day"!! I often feel like I have cotton wool wrapped around my brain. But occasionally I have an all cylinders firing day where I achieve things and productivity is high. Then things return to normal and something as simple as making a coffee takes all my effort.

I was like that yesterday...Friday...and I called it a turkey coma. I ate too much turkey on Thursday and more on Friday...not to mention the pecan and the pumpkin pie...and the Bailey's Irish Cream to top off the evening! I'm better today but thank God I didn't have to make any important decisions yesterday....

Oooh the Baileys sounds nice. I would not mind a turkey day. Never had pecan and pumpkin pie but it sounds nice. Well it sounds like you have been having lots of fun.
I try to stay away from important decisions, do not like them one little bit as they are far too serious.

All the time. lol I have been sick all week so I have not wanted to do anything almost every day this week. When I'm not sick I have them once in a while but, not often.

I've been having one of these days today but I have the cold, does that count?
Everything is in slow motion. And every task (minor ones like folding laundry) take so much more effort.
And don't even get me started on my brain. I don't even think it can handle a WHOLE LOT OF THINKING.

Of course it counts. Why shouldn't it. I hate colds, they ruin your life and make your head feel like a balloon. Thinking? "scratches head" What is that?
I know exactly what you are talking about and the only solution is to go to bed and hide, well usually, or struggle through the day and wish you were in bed. Trouble is that staying in bed nothing gets done unless you have someone to help you.

I'm sure thare have been many, but since I live with someone who seems to have zombie days on a regular basis, I've forgotten my own. lol. But seriously, as you get older, especially of you have pain and sleep problems, being zombied is pretty much par for the course, all you can do is curse and swear and get on with it as best you can.

That is true and I do try and do that. Afternoons seem to be better than mornings at the moment. I have not had a good nights sleep for 2 years and I think I am feeling the cumulative effect of that. Last night was particularly bad as I kept waking every 2 hours.
