I have a laptop with a Vista OS. It crashes just days ago so I decided to downgrade it to XP but during installation an error occur and prompted that windows did not detected a HD on my laptop. A friend of mine told me that my XP installer did not support a Sata HD which my laptop has. Can anyone Help me how to Install XP on my Laptop? Thanks!

I had a similar problem when i didn't want vista and wanted to downgrade to xp and got that very same problem, my laptop is hp and all you have to is change the bios setting, there are some raid and non raid setting in the bios setting, if they are set to raid change them to non raid and it will install
But like i said my laptop is hp and i don't know what kind of laptop you use

old version windowsXP might not contain a SATA/AHCI(a.k.a advanced host controller interface)driver,so during the installation, the install utility can not detect your Sata HDD.you can change the HDD working mode to slove this problem.reboot your laptop and enter the BIOS setup, find the SATA Mode,It's default setting might be AHCI or SATA,switch it to compatible mode or native ide,
save and exit.then try setting up windowsXP again. : D
