I've used windows and linux for years. Choosing between the two is just a matter of preference. One isn't necessarily better than the other. Windows tends the borrow a lot of features from other operating systems, especially the Mac. Linux can run almost any windowing environment you design for it. Its portable, platform-independent, scalable, cost effective. For the average home user, there could be a steep learning curve migrating from Windows to Linux, but that curve has grown smaller and smaller over recent years. Linux keeps innovating. Windows keeps borrowing. I use both. For critical work, Linux works just fine. When I want to play games, I use Windows. I've used Windows since Windows was run on top of DOS in Windows 3.1. I've used Linux since Redhat 4.0. The newer versions of Linux, like OpenSUSE, Ubuntu are starting to give Windows a definite run for its money. The desktop battle could definitely pick up in the next couple of years, especially as the battle moves from the desktop space to the mobile space.

I am windows xp-sp2 user. Having license version, it's cost too low now -a -days. So everybody can go for license version.

Hello,
i run several different OS, according on what i need to do.
Ubuntu is a good desktop implementation of linux, i guess it can be easily used by common people.
Surely it has some good keypoints: quite easy to manage, enhanced safety compared with any windows versions, no blue screens ;), and is usable for free.
You will find lot of different application for it, so i'm sure you will not regret your choice.

I am using Ubuntu and it works well. I use virtualbox-a free software to run XP within my Ubuntu desktop. It is cool,.. I have not tried Vista, coz it is said that it is much slower. I love XP too. There is no deny that it is powerful. But I guess Ubuntu is more promising, it improves so fast...The newest version iso is only less than 700 M!

Well; I am using Windows XP 2002 on my Home system . I am planning to try Windows Vista sometime . However, I would have to format my system for that .
I think using Ubuntu or other Linux would not be as user friendly as Windows .
However, these systems can still provide a number of Graphical Tools and Programs or Applications .

hello there my friend...
i was using windows xp for long time... even when windows vista first launched, i don't switch immediately because there was quite a number of bugs the microsoft team didn't fix it and the hardware requirement was too high and my desktop computer can't handle the burden... just few months ago, i bought a new laptop and it fully supports vista hardware requirements and now i'm using windows vista ultimate edition... i always want to experience the vista new GUI of its AERO interface and a lot of it's latest features...
