the protection of THE GREAT WALL!

Recently i read in a newspaper that the world's 8th wonder--the great wall, has been badly damaged by the local people who even didn't realise the old building they were destroying is china's great culture relics.the cultural relics in China is under danger and wonder how's the cultural relics in our country? are they protected well or badly or even without awareness of them?

The Great Wall is such a beautiful landmark! It is the same everywhere, I think, in that some of the great relics are respected and others fall into disarray, but here people often "adopt" a project like that and go in and research a place and try to "restore" it after the fact. There was, for instance, a famous tea garden in San Francisco that one of our myLot friends mentioned not long ago that was built by some families from Japan and was much esteemed in Golden Gate Park for many years and then it was forgotten by most and swallowed up by the forest. Now it is restored and open to the public again. That is not on the magnitude of the wall of China but it is an example of what can happen here.
