Panda bites student seeking a hug. College student in southern China is bitten by a panda.Student broke into the bear's enclosure hoping to get a hug.The student required hospital treatment after being bitten on the arms and legs. Don't be deceived. Pandas might look cute but they're not to be trifled with.

Hrm... College Student? Sounds like he's a little mental. Pandas have long claws. They look cute and cuddly, but somehow I've gotten the message that they are still wild animals. I guess that might be due to seeing some program on TV. Perhaps the College student isn't quite as mental as I'm thinking.
I do, however, remember another story about some crazy guy who thought the bears or tigers at the zoo were talking to him and inviting him into join them or something. Gosh, wish I could remember more of that story.

Oh my, Since he was a college student you would have thought he would have seriously known better then to try a stunt like that. And since a Panda is part of their culture he would have been raised hearing things about the panda and know not ot try that. I wonder if it was a dare??? you know how some colleges kids can be.Especially with their truth or dare games or their pledge rushing,.

Hello ersmommy. I am wondering why he was doing that to seek a hug from the panda. However gentle a panda may be, if we are new to them, it is not appropriate for us to get close to them. I am so sorry for the bite by the panda in the hope that he will get well soon.

Oh boy! That is really stupid of that person to do that. Enclosures are there not for decoration but for protecting both the animals and the human beings at the same time. I guess there are many people out there think that animals made into stuffed toys such as bears, pandas, tigers, and many others are cute and harmless. They often forget that animals have and would always have their animal instinct and it is not a wise idea to provoke them.
In this case the person had a good intention but to the panda that was a clear act of provocation and trespassing into its territory and therefore, the panda is doing what a panda would do to protect its territory from some mad creatures with open arms... Sometimes, we need to see it from the panda's perspective and then we would be able to understand why the panda chose to react such a way to the so called intruder.
Let this be a good lesson to others who always take animals for granted. Cheers!

This person was a college student? i yi yi. That's just retarded. Someone keep the special kids away from the bears. He probably wanted to mess with the panda, just made up the hug story when he got bit, and caught.

WTG panda! I'm so sick of stupid people who seem to think all animals are tame. There are gates and fences for a reason! Get a clue!

Lol, I just read that story before coming here. How dumb can this person be? It's just really huggable cuddly old bear? They put the fence up to keep people out, not the bear in.... ???

What an idiot! I hope he has horrible scars on his arms and legs! Did you hear about the guy who broke into Shamu's enclosure at SeaWorld after dark and got eaten?! I don't blame the whale! But his family's now suing sea world because their kid was stupid! They should sue themselves because they did such a crap job at raising their kid that he didn't know not to go trifling with things that are very large with sharp teeth!
