My last computer is less than a year old. First one I've built myself from scratch. Saved toonnnsss of money doing this.. seeing how i can pick every part and get the best deal out there. My comp was $500-$600 to make, and has a retail value of $1,000.00 plus easy. With newegg.com, buying the right parts is too easy.

Also search for barebone computers at newegg.com and tigerdirect.com. barebone comps are usually package deals that come with three of the following: a tower, motherboard, cpu, graphic card ,dvd drive or hard drive, usually just three items but the price is insane. then you just have to order the other parts.. all comes in peices but easy to put together. they've made it very easy for the average comp user to build your own with easy introductions and color coordinated connectors.
So now instead of buying a new comp.. all i need to do is upgrade few parts and bam just like new.

I have had my current computer for about 2 and 1/2 years now. I built it myself in the spring of 2006. I just keep adding upgrades....don't plan on a new computer for several years.
