Yes, it may be a cliche question but I'm curious. Do you think money can buy happiness? What about love? Why or why not?

It really depends on how you define these things. I believe in general, most rich people are "happier" in that they are less stressed. However, when something really bad happens they get more stressed and can't deal with it as well as someone who's used to a bumpier road. I also think people with higher paying jobs have a higher chance of getting a mate. In our society it's consider a good catch if your partner has money. I'll be honest, if someone doesn't have a job, I won't date them.

I agree, especially about that last part ;]
But also, rich people can miss out on a lot of experiences that "normal" people have. Sure, money can keep you company if you like material things. It can be your friend if you like cold and unemotional things. But if that's all you have, can you truly be happy and satisfied with life?
I sometimes get a feeling that the rich who appear so happy and confident on the outside actually have something missing within them.

I've known a few rich people. Both self made and born into. I think self made know how to manage their money and lives better. People born into tend to be too sheltered. They also tend to be shallow and not very intelligent. I think when the body and mind is not pushed at all, people can not become what they're meant. I believe if everyone was rich, we'd lose a lot of what makes us great as a people.

Money cannot buy yo happiness but it can be a means to be happy especially if you use it to share to your loved ones and less fortunate. Sure, you can do a lot of things with money, it can get you the nicest clothes, best travels in the world but after that it can live you empty. They are temporary happiness. I think real happiness stems from our relationship with God and the people that matters to us. If we have a good relationship with them, then I think that's real happiness and contentment.

i don't think so! money can't buy happiness as well as love! i've been looking for happiness for more than 20 years, yeah its true, im already 27 and yet i havent been happy in life, i thought at first money will be the answer to my happiness but i have proven it thats money is not the answer for everything.. for a short term happiness i guess money will do but for a longer happiness, i don't think so.. if you have money you feel secure, that's the only thing money can do.. that's for my opinion, i dont know for the others... happy mylotting

No! I don't think money can buy happiness but no doubt money can make people happy. This is actually two different things. Happiness is a kind of feeling, how can we buy it? I agree that love can make people feel happiness. For example, if you married with a millionaire that you don't even love him but you need not worried about money, will you feel that is happiness?

I agree with you.In fact,we classes debated upon this thesis in english class last year, and one of my classes said the same.Everyone has different definition about happiness, some cares material more, and some cares spirit more.As you said love can make people feel happiness, but money can not buy love.Though money perhaps can bring you a millionaire partner,it can not bring love and happiness.

I think one can buy happiness that is just skin-deep and temporary. But if you intend to have a long-lasting kind of happiness, you have to work for it.

money can't buy all of happiness
but money can make many things
cuz in the world we can't just abandon money
realize or not we need it
about love,,
some type of human can be bought by money
but it depends on you
do you want love which be bought by money or not???

No!!never can, never will. Look at Princess Diana, well the late Princess Diana. She had her prince, she bore him two children, one of whom will be king, but what did it get her? unhappiness, a husband who didn't love her, scrutiny and pain. Nope, that ain't worth it one bit. And all that money she had, it couldn't bring her back to this side of the world. just couldn't.

Not pure happiness. It can definitely cure a few problems in one's life. However, I don't think that it would last a lifetime, happiness wise. I wish it could buy love, well, I guess it could but maybe the wrong kind of love. Money tends to attract those you weren't looking for in the first place. I say that money buys materialistic love, but it does feel good once you have it, if only for a second.
