I found out yesterday that I can use my Blackberry as a internet provider for my laptop. I get the unlimited internet access each month on my cell phone bill. You hook it to the laptop with your data cable and you connect to the internet through your phone. So you can get internet where ever you go. I love it so far. You can call your service provider to find out how, I had to change some user settings to do it. I have T-Mobile. Has anyone else ever used this.
And by the way, I'm spoiled with my Blackberry. I got the pearl 8120 and I couldn't imagine going back to a regular phone!!

Thats cool! You can use your set as a modem. But what is the speed at which you get connected to the internet. It is what matters the most. You can have unlimited access to the internet but it is of no use if the connection speed is very slow. I connect my nokia n82 to the computer for internet and the connection speed shows 460kbps. But the actual download speed is somewhat in between 4 to 8 kbps. Also it depends on the service provider that what is the speed of connection you get.
Have a good day.

I'm not for sure of the exact speed. I'll just say slower than broadband but faster than dial up. I get that package anyways cause I use my blackberry to the fullest, usually =} So I use the internet on my blackberry wherever I go. Not just on my laptop.

I have the same exact phone as you do & trough t-mobile as well... I got their unlimited plan when it was on promotion... I have unlimited calling & messagings for $99.99 & unlimited blackberry paln for $19.99... I also have it set up so that for $9.99/month, I can take my laptop to any of their hotspot & use the internet... If I'm not mistaken, I think you have to pay extra for messaging now even with the unlimited plan, not the blackberry email plan but sms stuff, text, picture & audio messaging... Also, through where I work, it's not much but I get 15% discount... All in all, my bill comes out to about $126/month... I've had this phone since April, not too long after this phone came out for T-mobile... Due to my work, I need a smart phone & this is one of the ones I like the most... But if it wasn't for the work purpose, I probably won't use it... I don't know which plan you have but you might wanna think about, if you don't already, getting hotspot calling option as well... They call it "hotspot unlimited" but it's not tied down to their hotspots... With it, you can make unlimited calls as long as you're linked to "any" open wireless routers... Make sure where it shows your signal, it says in red, "UMA"... I know few people who got the same phone around the same time I got it & they have $39.99 plan... They use around 2,000 minutes in total & good amount of it is through "wireless router" calling, which is way more that 300 minutes they give you for that price... I know $39.99 is the starting point of "myfav" plan... I'm talking about outside of the 5 #'s they use for that... I use my phone pretty much to it's fullest extent as well but I haven't tried to use it to hook it up to my laptop yet... Hooking it upto wireless router makes emailing large files a lot faster, though... I use it a lot for the pictures & audio files I have to send to & receive from my 2nd job...
