This Thanksgiving I'll roast a trukey and people told me that I shoiud brine it first to keep the meat moist and seasoning. Can anyone tell me how to brine it?: what is the way you brine the turkey. I am going to need a 10 lbs since there are not too many people. Just my mom and my 2 sisters. Thank you in advance

It takes about ten to twelve hours to brine a turkey. You will need a container large enough for the brine to cover the turkey. When you bring a turkey it shouldn't be left out at room tempature so you will have to make sure that you are able to fit the container in the refrigerator. A brine should have salt as well as sugar in it. You can add any other seasonings that you like. I got a brine recipe from Alton Brown that you might like to try. This one is for about a fifteen pound turkey. For the brine:
1 cup kosher salt
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 gallon vegetable stock
1 tablespoon black peppercorns
1/2 tablespoon allspice berries
1/2 tablespoon candied ginger
1 gallon iced water

You will need a really large bowl or a large heavy duty food bag. You will need to add sea salt, apple cider and any herbs you want to use, put them in the bowl or bag, put the turkey in and fill the rest of the way with water until the turkey is covered. Let the turkey marinade in it for about two hours, the longer the better. When you take the turkey pat it dry so that the skin will brown up nicely.
