DDR4 SDRAM will be the successor of DDR3 SDRAM...It is currently in the design state and is expected to be released in 2012...The new chips are expected to run at 1.2 volts or less versus the 1.5 volts of DDR3 chips and have in excess if 2 billion data transfers per second..Look for this one guys, it's gonna be a boost in system performance and of course game performance...

That's insane! Technology nowadays is just changing too fast :S I wonder what will happen 20 years later. Everyone of us own a computer that can process like Bluegene? =.= By the way, I'm still using ddr2 ram :)

According to PC Pro: "The session concluded with a look ahead to DDR4. DDR4 is as yet a more a wish list than a formal specification, but Trill predicted that initial DDR4 modules would go on sale in 2012, with a bus frequency of 2,133MHz and an operating voltage of 1.2V. By 2013, he expected to see 2,667MHz modules running at just 1.0V. Seems that it's still being speculated but interesting nonetheless.
