What are some note taking habits you have?

I take notes on a laptop if at all possible (and generally, it is possible). Otherwise I will hire someone to take notes for me sometimes, as I'm not a good note taker without a laptop. I don't abbreviate, I type quickly enough that I don't have to. If you don't abbreviate, it's easier when the computer reads the notes back to you later. I do organize my notes chronologically but labeled with a letter and number system rather than by date. It might be smarter to organize them by date really, but I got so used to that 8 character file name rule that DOS programs used that I still use that most of the time just because I came up with such a great organizational system that I can remember using that.

I use the Cornell format and its really an organized format.
