Were you one to take a lot of notes in school, or listen more?

I really dislike taking notes as they start to become more illegible, and thank god for abbreviations. In some classes though, I found out I could pass taking limited notes and just do more listening. How about you, were you meticulous about jotting down every single detail? Did you prefer to note only a few things? Or, did you hardly take notes - maybe depend on others, or just not need them?

Taking notes was only helpful if my teacher DREW OUT what they were trying to explain and discussed it. Simply copying from a board or a book is rubbish to me. I need to see it both visually and hear it. Blah, maybe i just demand too much eh :P?
