this one is for the girls.
when i went to school us girls had the choice of wearing black trousers or a black skirt.
it was very rare that somebody wore a skirt. This may have been as it is quite cold in the winter where i live. I always wore trousers.
did you wear a skirt for school and was it the rules that you had to?

it became a tradition at our school that the boys would dress up as girls when we had charity days.
we had nurses, policewomen all sorts really.

We had to wear black shoes everyday except for the day we had PT we shud wear white shoes. Evergreen memories. I still remember wearing walking unwillingly wearing a skirt and top with my shoes on and my hair plated. Wish I get thise days back

my school didn't have uniforms.
even if skirts were mandatory,i would have refused to wear them in winter.
it's just too cold here for that.

We had skirt, dress and pants. Dress for summer and skirt or pants for winter. I hated the skirt and plus I am always cold so I wore pants in winter but in summer we all had to wear the dress but it was ok not the latest fashion but a bit better then a potato sack.

the primary school I went to many years ago had a school uniform but you didn't have to wear it so no one did.
Secondary school years 1 to 3 you had to wear school uniform and the girls were not allowed to wear trousers but had to wear a skirt. Years 4 and 5 GCSE years we wear allowed to wear what we lived, so those years were scruffy years for the school but jeans were not allowed. Girls were allowed to wear trousers.
When our 20 year old daughter went to primary school there was no uniform and you were allowed to wear what ever you wanted as longs as it was tidy including jeans.
We then moved. At her secondary school she had to wear uniform all the way through. College she could wear what ever.
Cos we moved it means the rest of the children go to a different primary school, There is a uniform which everyone wears but you don't have to wear it but everyone does so it does look odd if you don't wear it. Girls are allowed ot wear trousers. They will go to the same secondary school as our daughter so will wear school uniform . The girls are lucky as they are allowed ot wear trousers.
I think school uniform is a very good idea as it makes the children look smart and the same and there is no fights about the fashions children wear out of school etc.
